first of all. what is your budget and application.

then work from there.

your options are:

- drop in a motor from a turbo model

- turbo your current motor

as to the differences between a gtr and gtst:

the answer is heaps....

2.6L twin turbo with attessa vs. 2.5L turbo rwd

different brakes, interior, body shape

list goes on...

do a little research, and search through the forums and internet... try the search button up top on this forum.

It's not worth it to turbo your na unless you really want to. There have been many threads on this. you'd be better off dropping in a turbo motor.

Also, aftermarket turbo on an na motor is also probably even worse. the na motor is probably only good for 7-8psi (stock turbo) since it's a high comopression motor. There's no point gettign a big turbo if you will only end up running 1 psi to have it flow the same as the stock turbo at 8psi (it won't even run at 1psi anyways).

A bigger turbo spools at more user-friendly revs, a guy I knew had a TO4E on his high-comp R34 and it spooled like the stock turbo. Stock turbo's on high-comp engines tend to be pushing 7psi at 1800rpm, it's awesome around town though, tons of torque low-down.

Cant you just lower the compression ratio of the engine?

My parents mechanic told me that i could throw a hks stage 1 turbo kit straight on and you just have to adjust the engine to be able to run it.

Cause im after an r33 gts25 as well for my first car, And im concidering doing this once im off my p's

its not something you can adjust like timing, you'll have to throw in a thicker head gasket or swap pistons.

and even then you will still only be able to run mild boost without doing more work.

that said how old are you? QLD govt. is implementing the P plater restrictions soon (as you probably already know) and by the time you get onto your P's you may not want a skyline anymore. at the current price of skylines its much easier (and costs roughly around the same) to sell and buy a GTST

I know all about the p plater restrictions i have the pain in the ass memorised. I get my P's in less then a year. Ive been set on a late 90's model c200 mercedes or an r33 as long as i can remember, And the mercedes is a little out of my price range so i wanna settle with an N/A skyline and in the future work on it, Money really isnt an object for me so if that is the main reason why people say to not convert the engine, Is there any other reasons as to not do it disregarding money? Plus n/a skylines ive looked at have been roughly 8 - 10k and importers have quoted me roughly the same price...

if only we were all so lucky....

reasons to do the conversion it:

- you might already have a bodykit on your skyline

- stereo install

- small dress up bits, custom bits,

- rims

- suspension work

reasons not to do it:

- brakes will need upgrading

- a standard RB25DET is made to take the power

- a DET motor you can be looking at 200rwkw or more on standards

- much less customization

- gearbox

its all common sense really... if you do a search you can find your answers

talk's cheap. for someone who cant even drive yet you are certainly thinking very far ahead... i suggest you get your license and then go from there.

by the time you get your p's turbo 33's will probably be cheap enough for you to buy 1, but you won't legally be able to drive it.

if you want a NA skyline as your first car then get that. then once you are off your p's either sell it and buy a turbo skyline, or drop the motor out and put a turbo motor in. here are some of the mods you have to do-

buy the turbo, intercooler and piping, and manifolds and exhaust

buy a new clutch

get a thicker headgasket put on

get a new ecu (to have it run well)

new fuel pump

have oil and water lines drilled into the head

now if you go an aftermarket turbo setup, you are looking at $2500-$3000 just for the turbo, which is the same money as a turbo front cut. but the turbo motor will handle much higher amounts of boost. an the boost you could run on the NA motor with a turbo, you probably would only just make it to the power of a stock turbo motor, if you were lucky.

Just get a shit car for your first car, save up and get something nice once youve crashed it and are off your Ps.

You will scratch it up, you dont want a nice car for your first car and you sure as hell don't want a fast car.

if money isnt a problem how can the c200 be out of your price range?

The type of c200's i want, In the condition i want are 22 - 26k.

Im not to fussed about a turbo or not i was just saying thats was what the mechanic dude said.. Ill probly buy a merc once im off my p's. Lol i dont really care about how fast it goes :D
