New to Skylines (want to be buying one soon), new to the forums, they kick ass especially the 'New to the skyline scene' and 'I'm buying a skyline' threads.

I have searched the forums (and google) - couldn't find an answer to my question, and also looked in the forums and couldn't find anywhere better than here to post it, so I am not a dick.

Here is my question -

I want a resonable decent information source of comparison between Japanese sports car makes. Main things I want to know are specifications (2/4 door, 4WD, etc), engine power output, and 0-100km/h times, for cars like R33 Skyline GT25S, ECR33 GTS25T, R32, WRX, WRX STi, Evo, Supra, etc etc etc etc from various years.

This seeme like it would be pretty fcking easy to find on the internet but I have spent about 10 hours looking for just simple fcking tables telling me this shit and I cant find it anywhere. I remember something similar in the back of Wheels magazine a while ago, but not with all the makes and models I am interested in.

SKYLINES AUSTRALIA PLEASE HELP ME!!!

fcking hell you guys rock up.gif

I checked out all of those pages, though and none of them had the WRX - I understood that the WRX was the benchmark (being the most common) for Japanese imports?

WRX - you can probably check on www.prestigemotorsport.com.au

i think they have specs there too

thanks up.gif

ill let you know what i get - I wanna spend 15-20k, I am thinking either Skyline ECR33 GTS25T - or a WRX. I understand Skyline is cooler, but the fact WRX is 4WD turns me on, and I can't afford a GTR, unless its like 18 years old in which case I would either die from smashing myself into a tree with no airbag or from sadness when it breaks down because its 18 years old.

thanks again

choose wisely because:

1) you need to enjoy it

2) its hard to sell cars these days

3) running costs & parts cost can be high on some cars than others

4) you need to also know if you can handle the power and not end up as another fatality on the roads (i.e just because the wrx has 4wd doesnt make it crash proof)

I don't see parts availability for a skyline to be an issue and aftermarket parts support is available widely as well...only issue would be body panel replacement parts in the event of an acco...if its an insurance jobby, they would need to be flown in from japan...

Otherwise, costs and maintainence wise would be similar. Gotto watch out for those WRX gearboxes though as they tend to be a weakpoint in the older models.

then why are you posting on SKYLINES AUSTRALIA?

:laughing-smiley-014:

but seriously they (wrxs) have their strong points like 4 door may be newer not imports and 4wd

basically go for a drive/ride in each and make ur mind up, the nissan turbos will push you in the back more and be faster usually (more modded also) but a wrx will rip off the mark and be a killer in the wet

    • I much prefer that to an actual oil pressure issue, never would of thought it would of been a volt drop issue but SAU brains win again. Guess ill be turning down the oil pressure limit for the track and hunting some grounds. Ill hopefully update this thread with some high oil pressure and solid ecu voltage logs.
    • You've just discovered a really good reason to tell yourself, yes, I do need to buy an aftermarket ECU. Put the MAF in the bin. Slap in the new ECU and have a think about what turbo sounds you prefer.  Do you want a 90's style BOV wooosh? Do you want a hektik tsututututu?  Mate, can't go wrong. Just gotta get that ECU and the world is your oyster.
    • Hi. Iam just curisou about this topic. I saw this video. It is about Greddy Type FV2. I know that BoVs are about that sound but how and when to use it? I read some topic here and from what i have understand on stock RB with MAF there will be some "problems" if you use this BoV? It vents the air in to the atmosphere and the MAF on stock car needs this air back in to the intake and not out? Or is it wrong? If so...i saw you can put some adaptor to circule air back...but does that not "loose" that sound? I saw another BoV from Turbosmart and it has two "exhaust" like ports? One is for the stock tubing for letting air back and one is for "sound" and let the air in the atmosphere? Can someone please explain? This is the Greddy one:  And this is the Turbosmart.     THANK YOU!! EDIT: So i read about this topic some more and i if i understand that correctly: That Greddy can function either like BoV or 100% Bypass valve? And that Turbosmart is what they called hybrid so you can adjust what and how many air can be vented out or back in? Is this right? THX!
    • That dirty voltage drop is the culprit I suspect
    • i cant get them all in 1 screenshot unfortunately as i just dont know how to move things around tbh, but they are all from the same log and the line crosses at the same point for all of them
