Turbo Options ....

Hi All,

Ok I need your help and opinion’s....

I have a 94 R33 GTS-t, and its developed a high pitch screech not loud but noticeable at high rpm 5500+

Like a random "teee teeeeeeeeee tetetee eteeeee" if you can kind of understand

I’m assuming its turbo bearings... ?

I’m running stock boost, not loosing boost, or any major power losses, only mods are:

- Full turbo back exhaust

- POD

- BOV

- Stock IC

I’m going to be selling it in the next few months, and want to fix it before i sell.

What options should I consider...

Finding recon Second-hand R33 GTS-t turbo?

Fixing Bearing only?

Hi-Flowing?

Thicker Oil ... I dunno ... please give me some views/opinions’, it would be much appreciated.

I’m in W.A so any places that you can recommend for me to take the car to as well.

How much do you want to spend?

1. Stock 2nd hand turbo $400-500

2. Sliding Performance High flow with Journal Bearing - $800 (i think)

3. GCG High Flow - $1750 in the group buy section

4. HKS or Apexi Turbo Kit (bolt on replacement) - $2500+

Im thinking no more then 1G

Check the turbo for shaft play, im thinkin the compressor wheel is prob touching the housing and causing the screech. then I guess your best option for $1k is the sliding turbo

EDIT: Didnt see that he was selling the car soon prob std 2nd hand turbo if thats what the problem is

first find out exactly what is causing the problem. if it is the turbo you're best off just getting another stock turbo if you are planning on selling the car. then sell your old turbo to make some of the money back.

Yeh ... i just thought if anyone has had this issue before what they did.

Any places you can recommend taking my car too. In W.A...

If your happy with the current level of performance i suggest checkign your gaskets first. Odds are its just the gasket that is located between the turbo and the exhaust manifold. Its a couple of hours heart ache and about $35 to fix.
