Hi people,

I took an R33 for a test drive on the weekend and had it stall on me as I was about to pull into the driveway of the dealership (the car was in neutral at the time as I was about to change gears).

The revs just dropped and that was it - power steering went hard as hell and I'm just glad I wasn't going any faster into the corner!

I did a search about this in the forum and other people seem to have reported it too.

My question is; is this a common problem with Skylines and is it an indication of a faulty vehicle ? How many of you also have this problem and have you managed to fix it ?

I certainly wouldn't want to buy a car that'd stall everytime the revs drop! (I might as well drive a Windows PC then that just reboots every now and then! :) )

There seems to be probs with liners that have got aftermarket BOV's, it seems that if the orginal BOV is not blanked off you will have idle problems, but they should be overcome once the car has been running for awhile. There is a device by HKS (Idle stabiliser) that can remove this problem. There is of course a few other things such as computer, airflow sensor and cold start sensor that might also be sick, but that is a little info to help.

PS Once you lose power to the car, the power steering doesnt work so car is very hard to drive (steer, control) but you can still drive the car, just need to be superman to turn the steering wheel.

i had this on my line pal... and it could be any of the following

1. AFM faulty

2. TPS faulty

3. Faulty fuel pump

4. Bad plugs

5. Stuffed coil

Goodluck, you might find it easily or you may never fix it.... I would avoid the car unless they fixed it before you bought it and ganenteed you that if it happens again they will fix it.

samething happened to me... mixture of the BOV and boost wound up too much for my ecu to handle... got the SAFC installed and was all OK Dokie

Take IMACUL8's advice on this one... if it is a normal nice looking line look eslewhere just for 2 weeks till you see another... if this is the EXACT car of your dreams then prepare to spend $$$ or ensure that that problem does not exist..

The other guys have also mentioend similar probs which all seem to have the same effect, in turn this means that if you can't get the dealer to fix it then prepare to spend $$$$ trying to figure out which one of ours it could be....eenie meenie miny moe

With my Blitz BOV on the "loose" setting it always did this.

Then I adjusted it tighter and reset the ECU, and it worked fine..

I then got pissed off with the *pssshhht* PICK ME COPPA! *pssshht* RIGHT HERE COPPA! *pssshtt*

SO i disconnected it and reconnected the stock BOV... FIXED!

I have a stock BOV and mine stalls every now and then if I don't blip the go pedal when nearly stopped.

Just heel and toe (or whatever it is I'm doing) when down shifting into 1st when your coming to a stop, just a little flick of juice, enough to stop it stalling. You get used to it.

Seems to happen more in the hot weather though.

Yeah i had my car stall once and come close to stalling a couple of times - revs drop really low it'll shudder then they go back up again. As i said only did it once and the rest of the car runs sweet - as long as it doesnt do it too often. Might want to get the BOV looked at along with a couple of other things the boys have mentioned - its not a big problem :)
