Well its been about 18months I have been without a car... Having sacraficed my beloved R32 to start my business. Well its all been worth it, because today I bought my first "Business Vehicle" a Series 1 Stagea RS4. Something I have been dreaming of for 18 months! :)

Anyway here are some Pics. She is pretty Stock except for cat back exhaust and Tein Coilovers - which are suprisingly a very comfy ride, no where near the harsh set I had on my Skyline.

Cheers,

Ben.

I drove that car on the Thursday, went back to look at one with a sunroof on the Monday and said I'll take the one from last Thursday. That's when Hiro-san told me he had sold it. damn, damn, damn. It was a good ride in that car on the Teins and a nice sound out of that pipe. Well done. I ended up buying the S1 with the sunroof and cast Nissan mags that look like they came of a maxima or somesuch. I am very bloody happy with it.

Thats crazy! he did say he had someone interested in it, and i thought it was the old salesman trick!

I did see the sunroof one there too, looked sweet, but i couldnt afford the extra $$ for the roof. but im very happy with mine :P

GoldZilla:

If there is a Sydney Stagea meet, im there for sure! I better make mine go a little faster tho!

Ben.

Don't worry, Ben - apart from the manual conversion and an exhaust, mine is still stock anyway...

Manual conversion.. awesome, id love to see it. we will defenantly have to get this Stagea meet going.

where did you guys go on the last one?

Yep, was done by the previous owner - I snapped up this car because I'd started reading about how much of a hassle it would be, especially with obtaining parts for the interior...

The last (and only) cruise, we went up to Soldier's Beach @ Norah Head, which is on the Central Coast. I just decided to make the meet-up spot there because there were some people coming from the Newcastle/Hunter region and a few of us from Sydney, and that was kinda meeting in the middle.

Like I said, someone else can organise this one!

I thought it was a salesmans trick as well. I've just heard that Japan is legally entitled to turn back the odometer 100000kms on cars for export. Makes sense as my car feels like a car with 170000kms instead of one with 70000kms. I haven't researched this to find out if it's true so I am hoping I'm not starting a vicious rumour which will blow this thread out to 80 pages.

    • OK. But what about parts of the block that, when assembled, were twisted into a position that pushed into the void space, which, when disassembled, then released that force and opened back up, thus putting the grout into tension? Would effectively just pull the cast iron off the grout at the interface, leaving a tiny void and benefitting not much at all. Swings, and roundabouts. It's like putting something tiny into the fleshlight and finding out you needed a smaller one, to perhaps follow your area of expertise.
    • Nah. You buy a kit that has shorter tubes.
    • I didnt present too many conclusions because I wanted your opinions and feedback based on your own experiences. I don't know the exact material, but it is similar to concrete and therfor only has valuable strength in compression. The forces on the set material once the head is removed would mostly be in compression since the grout wants to retain its shape and the block wants to return to its relaxed state since it's still within the elastic region. The grout would theoretically make the block more rigid. The exact amount would take a better setup on my end. Thought experiment: Instead of aliens, twist your favorite fleshlite. Now fill it with grout and allow it to sit for a week. Now try to twist it again. Observe what you see. Now get your other one and blow into it. Observe what you see. Now put it into a can and fill the space between your fleshlite and the can. After it sets blow into it. Less movement in torsion and less expansion i hope.
