If it doesn't get cancelled due to rain (Sunday should be fine!) then who's coming for a look?

I've fitted a 100hp Nitrous kit with the aim of 11's........... in the Sigma :) J/k :)

I'll be heading down to watch so let me know if any of you guys/girls are keen & we can all meet up. Those of you who aren't keen on leaving your Skylines in the car park I may have a spare seat or 2 in the Sigma, if the Nitrous doesn't blow her up :)

Easy fixed mate!

Just get yourself to my place (or Bug's) & you can grab a seat in my car (Sigma) :D Or, if your not far from me, then I can pick you up.

The chance to see a GT-R aiming to run a 9sec pass should not be missed people! :burnout: :uh-huh:

The decision has been taken - due to the likely track condition not to run the car at AIR tomorrow. Without enough track prep the car is not going to be too spectacular on street Toyo tyres. Next meet, weather permitting, for sure. For those that want to know the car is prepped by Tilbrook

Martin,

Is the car in question John Munro's R33?? As at the dyno day with the Nissan car club at Tilbrooks he said that he had a OS 3 litre Kit and HKS turbos on the way. Shame if its not going to run, as the weather looks good for tomorrow. Has the car been on the dyno?, if so what power is it making. Do you know if any other GTR's are going to run, as I need my monthly GTR fix!!

Cheers, Chris:burnout:

Yes, the car in question is John Munros car. We took it to Willowbank for Drag Combat in full road trim with only 30 minutes (thats right) tuning on the new engine, and locked in 5% front torque assistance (basically rwd). It ran a couple of 10.7s @ 138mph, so we were quite happy with that. Since that time though the car has been radically altered, as follows -

OS 3 litre engine

HKS 2835R Twin gate turbo kit

HKS Step Pro valve train system

Trust Drag cooler

Motec M800/CDI 8 management

Motec boost control

Drag fuel cell

Trust 6 speed box

OS 4 plate clutch

Tilbrook dual rpm delay box

Apex VMAX Hydraulic Torque controller

ATS front/rear lsd

HKS driveshafts

HKS Hiper D/Drag suspension

Cusco camber arms

Plus lots of other bits & pieces. Its also been lightened a hell of a lot - lexan windows, zero interior (save for Velo Carbon seat), custom 4 light dash, etc. etc. etc.

In Drag Combat trim the car made 510rwkw/9000rpm @ 1.3 bar of boost pressure, hence the good mph with 1.9 second 60 foot times. With the new 4wd control, and 2.0 bar it should have some good potential.

Tilbrook builds/prepares the car, every nut & bolt. Adelaide Engine Developments screwed together the engine, and yours truly has the job of punching the numbers into the Motec. Its all fairly exciting stuff. Unlike the other fast GTRs around this car is still road registered, runs on pump gas, and is quite driveable with the full exhaust in place. John is going to put a few thousand road kays on it in the near future.

Obviously the car will be subject to a full build up feature in HPI....

I dunno what the hell is up with my car, on Ultimate 98 its fine but PULP it pings... grr, need to get it looked at.

What does it mean where your car pings?

I may have experienced that before as well.....

Furthermore what is diff in the types of petrol used eg. 98ron/92ron..what does the number and the word ron mean?

Pinging from what I understand means that there is detonation of the fuel before the spark detonates it which = not good for engine..... correct me if im wrong

RON im not sure what it stand for, but basically means the octane level of the fuel... higher the octane the better, this stops detonation.

whatsisname help me out here :) , u the expert on all this stuff hehe.

all I know is the higher the octane the better performance and engine health :).... thats all I need to know :D

Well it appears that the track wasn't too bad today. We could

have run the R33, but my crew chief Mark Tilbrook has been crook

as a dog & the few finishing touches that the car needed would

have been detrimental to his health!

When we ran the car at willowbank on 25th May the car was not

sorted at all & we had problems with the transfer case & standard

driveshafts breaking! It did do 5 full passes & the best was 10.7

@ 135 mph. Considering that it weighed over 3600 pounds, was

only running RWD & 18psi, and that my only test drive was around

the block at JMS, it wasn't a bad effort. The car has a lot of potential. Since that meeting we have pulled a lot of excess weight and unnecessary items from the car(Stereo etc) & changed

the 4WD control over to hydraulic.

If we can get the car out of the hole it will run a good number.

All week I have been looking forward to racing & when we made

the decision not to race the R33 this meeting I thought it would be rained out anyway. So, when I got up this morning and the

meeting was on I thought I would take out my new R34 GTR &

stretch it's legs! I just bought it during the week from another

well known R33 GTR owner and was interested to see what it would do. Even with a full tank of juice, and hopeless tyres it ran

a 12.51 @ 114 mph ! Not bad for an almost standard car.

We will most likely hire out the track before the next meeting to test the new 4WD system on the R33.Martin can plug the laptop

in and do some tuning on the way down the track as we can't

seem to keep the thing on the dyno rollers!!! Ha Ha yeah right.

Good to have you on board mate. The new R34 V spec looked awesome :) Your times in the R34 we're damn impressive given so few mod's!

I'm one of the 2 Matt's that you spoke to @ AIR, I was the one with the big blue jacket & black trackies, the other Matt is on here as well, he goes by the name of Bugalugs.

Looking forward to seeing the R33 on the track soon, & having the R34 cruising with the rest of us SA Skyline owners some time too :D

Cheers,

Matt.
