hold on, i just thought of something.

if you can get a stiff wire or coat hanger or something into that hole where the wiring is you might be able to move the weight with it.

IF there's nothing blocking the path.

try that first.

You bloody champion. Well i've taken a small pictorial of what stage i'm up to right now...

post-950-1159353399.jpg out comes the face like a can of tuna

post-950-1159353408.jpg seperate the face from the gauge

post-950-1159353416.jpg remove the rear bolt

post-950-1159353424.jpg this is where i'm at..

i'm not quite sure how to lever the pin into the right position from here, how'd you get the weight to stay in the right spot?

just push down on the weight (the big U shaped chunk at the top), or up, depending on which way the needle needs to move.

you'll see the needle move. you'll have to move the needle much further than u want it and then it will settle back into its new spot. keep doing that till u have it on zero. u can always go back the other way if u go too far.

I think the gauge is cactus, had it all calibrated up a number of times, and one sneeze it'd go out of wack. So no luck on it, time to go hunting on a new one I think.

Thanks for trying to help, much appreciated, at least i know what the insides of them look like ;) It's all good fun learning.
