what would happen if i were to insure my car as standard then like a week later call up and tell them about the mods and say that i just put them on? do they then ask for more money? is the car still insured or what happens?

read your policy before your sign.... because with insurance companies. Everything is in black and white.

aybee, generally they will ask you for more money or cancel your policy if they dont insure modified vehicles. but as bangahh said - read the policy booklet.

I notified them of my mods a few months after I took out the policy and they just sent me an account for $44.

how modified is the car?

ive done a online quote from just cars for my car as is and standard for 3rd party fire and theft and they were almost $200 different. does this mean they would ask for that difference?

yes.

i started a policy for $2600 for my old gtst with Just Cars and i had to pay about $700 more during the year because of mods and then the renewal was $3300.

It was a series 2 R33 gtst, full turbo back 5Zigen exhaust, suspension work (nothing serious), 18" DTM rims, FMIC, Blitz BOV, Clutch, Boost, Gauges, stereo, tints, ummm... and some other stuff.

the wheels alone bought the policy up $400.
