Hey guys just thought id add some imput on the kelvin rating with HIDs.I have had both 6500k and 8000k and the 8000k is really blue.I wouldnt recommend these as i have been defected for them.6000k or 6500k is perfect.Nice white light with a very slight blue tinge.10,000k and over would be rediculous for street use.The higher the kelvin the blue and less bright the light is.Though 8000k will still be 2-3 times more bright than halogens.

As with installation you have to drill a bigger hole in the bulb cover at the rear of the headlight assembly for the gromet to fit in nicely.Meaning if you want to revert back to stock you will have a big whole in the cover unless you keep the gromet and feed the stock wires through.

If anyone is interested i have a set of HIDs in my garage with 8000k bulbs. It is Jap made and of high quality.

IMO HIDs are too bright for the reflector lenses of the R33s.R32s perfect.

Here are some pics of cars with varied kelvin HID kits (note that most cars have projector lenses look how much glare there is with reflector lenses).

How much for a HID kit to fit a 180sx (think h4)? Was after two prices, the 4100 or 4300 as well as the 6000 please?

Also, do you use genuine Phillips globes?? If not, what globes do you package with the kits?

Is it $260 or more than that? Question has been asked a few times but not yet answered I don't think...

Lastly, are you located in melbourne? Any chances of doing an installation at a good price? PM me your response if you like.

Anyone got links to what the HID's look like in a 180sx?

Very interested, much appreciated, and will pass the info onto NS.com when I get the answers. We ALL want HID!

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
