Even when u get to regency its a person by person basis which determines how u go.

This is what people should be complaining about as they are all supposed to be following ADR laws which SHOULD be the same for all australia....which we all know they are not.

Yes, it sucks but basically you can be defected for anything non standard.

Actually from what i've heard you can get defected for anything standard as well - depends on the mood of the cop.

If the car is legal you can head straight to a cop station and they'll remove the defect but it would still be unnecessary hassle.

I'm of the understanding that if you take an SA car to Victoria and get it defected, then it is only defected in Victoria. Take it to another state, or return to SA, and the defect does not stand. However if you never clear the defect in Vic, and then if you return with the same car (or the next owner does) then you can get busted by the vic police for it. Which is what people said on page 1 :D

If you want to know if anything is defectable just give regency a call. The people there are the ones who can help. I enquired about a pod filter originally and they advised that as long as you don't affect anything to do with emissions, or change the AFM, then it's legal. Also Regency should be able to send you written information. Most mods are legal, but the catch is you need to get an engineers certificate for it to prove it. If you can provide the cop with written information proving your mod is legal, then he more than likely won't defect you for it, BUT if you get booksmart on them they'll often get cocky and find something else to defect you for :\

Bear in mind that getting through regency is different to being defected. Cops can get you for anything non-standard that they suspect to be an issue, and they force you to go to regency to get it checked out. If the cops are wrong, then regency will clear the car - but if they find anything that isn't legal, they won't clear it. AFAIK that's the point of the system.

Hiya. I just took my car through regency with a pod and big front mount still on the car. No problems.... and I had 3 staff members going over the car at the same time, so you should be ok.

POD and FMIC are fine in SA. Just don't cut the body/chassis in anyway for the piping and you're fine. Just make sure that POD is bracketed down (the only thing some of them like to pick on). Both brother and myself went through regency with both

good to know all is good. should come on the dyno day if time/schedule permits.

um..a cop can defect u for suspicion of a defectable car. so either way, ur f**ked if a coppa doesnt like u, hence be as nice as possible even if ur car is not defectable (not really possible as pretty much every single car on the road has atleast one un-roadworthy item)

Remembering back to the days of school when we had a mr policeman come and visit us in yr 9. The idea was to educate us a little about road safety.

I remember he suggested if we get pulled over to jump out of the car with your license ready and try to approach them before they approach you. Obviously don't get out the car and run at them - lmao - as you'll probably end up on the ground or have a gun pointed at your head.

Its worked for me so far (touch wood), its a bit of a laugh when it catches them off guard and they are fumbling quickly to try and grab their bits and pieces as you wait. Not all but some.

If anything I do it simply for my own amusement. :)

the only time ive been officially pulled over i was doing something very wrong so i was pretty much stone cold in a full car of dickheads coming up with bs excuses. ended up all good, lucky he wasnt a prick otherwise i would have been taking a bit of time off the whole driving thing and have my car in the lockup.

ud hate it if they saw u getting out and thought u were gonna try and make a run for it on foot.

Hey buddy. Yeah, the car went through fine, even got decent fellas too. I hope youre enjoying the diff.

I'm gonna have to give this dyno day a miss, as the car is still in standard form from regency.
