well GTRs already run two BOVs standard. They are quite a good set-up. If you must have an aftermarket one consider the Trust Type R kit which replaces the two valves with one big one, or the twin Blitz super sound sequential kit is quite nice too. I run the blitz kit on my GTR and i'm happy with it. sounds good, not too loud. and never had any problem with stalling etc. runs smooth as a babys bum.

Ok thanks so much for your help.

how much did your BOV cost?

Stick with the stock BOV's the aftermarket ones only cause problems

Thats a pretty general statement and isnt completely true at all.

I have run the Trust Type R on my car for 3 years, both before and after installing aftermarket management and I have never had a problem.

yes i concurr. considering i own a GTR with aftermarket blow-off valves i can safely say they have never caused me one problem. also both with stock ecu and aftermarket. no stalling, no hunting idle, no bullshit.

The factory GTR twin BOV's are about the best setup you will ever get in terms of performance. They are not fussed with extreme amounts of horsepower.

Of course if you like pachoo --- pachoooo sounds then you might want to change them.

$600 to change them?

keep the money for something you will really enjoy. Like $600 worth of beer.

Leewah GTR 604rwkw - Stock GTR BOV's

Nige's Supra ~550rwkw - Stock GTR BOV's

Racepace GTR 550rwkw - Stock GTR BOV's

There is absolutely no reason to waste money on BOV's.

If you want some "noise" to get the chicks attention... stick your ass out the window and make a noise each gear change

    • I definitely agree with you there - I never click on content for cars I would never ever be able to get or compete with/against/be seen next to. Seeing a MX5 compete with a FD RX7 will make people upset though, for sure. Even in 2.5L Turbo form which is pretty grass roots. (or at least as grass roots as classic cars can be) Yes we're all classic car owners now.
    • Wonder what the cause is, but here's hoping it's nothing too serious.
    • People don't always want builds that are overly expensive, or have engineering/registration/insurance issues and head aches that come with them Whilst big dollar builds, and complicated stuff is interesting to watch, there is only a tiny % of people who would actually use this information, or have the spare finances to drop on said builds, whereas the buy a cheap(ish) cool car, and make it better, with a average budget, that the average Joe or Jane could achieve will always be a winner in my opinion
    • Bit of a thread revival, you mentioned wanting a bit more top end before, do you regret not going with the 1.01?
    • It's kind of interesting - They definitely do builds that split the difference between what they like and what will generate views and engagement. The NC Platform always surprises everyone in a good way, in an uncomfortably good way some may say. They could throw a LS in there and arguably have the best (and best performing) car of the entire stable. But that isn't necessarily what draws views, because people viewing don't want to accept the vegetables of a LS NC MX5 being a superior vehicle in every way (including fun) than a RB26 240Z. This is also why there's not a lot of content about the GR Yaris (on the web in general). They're too good, yet 'only a Yaris' The community doesn't want certain cars to be as good as they are - to beat their hero cars, and I believe the NC MX5 is absolutely one of those cars.
