Buying A New Steering Wheel

anyone know of any places that sell nice steering wheels, nothing to expensive, i'm after something a bit smaller then my original one, it just feels to big, also do I need to know anything specific before buying one, I was told i would need a boss kit also my current wheel doesn't have airbags.

firstly, great that your car doesn't have airbags, that means that any aftermarket wheel is ok (if you have airbags yo have to replace with an airbag wheel)

now you do need a boss kit. see all stering wheels have a universal mounting system so basically the boss kit is a small bit of metal that bolts to the skyline steering column on one side and has the universal bolt pattern on the other side. they can be had for about $80 or so at supercheap, or $50 or so on ebay

now for steering wheels... i personally found one on ebay as i loved the design and couldn't find it anywhere else! a decent one can be had for $100 and the quality is great. pics are attached.

you can probably get the boss kit and steering wheel from the same place even!

No, not any aftermarket wheel will do.

If it's replaced with something like the one WazR32GTSt posted up, the vehicle will get defected the first time it's pulled over.

That may be legal in some states, but not here.

Some info from VicRoads:

Replacement steering wheels must be not less than 330mm in diameter.

If the original steering wheel was designed with a recessed or padded hub, the replacement wheel must be of similar design.

Something else to also keep in mind. I heard that only momo is an approved steering wheel by insurance companies. So if you are ever in a car accident (touches wood) they could turn around and say, "your steering wheel is not suited to street driving" Don't quote me, but thats what I've been told. Looking for a good one myself

bull.. There are plenty of other brands sold here which have ADR approval stickers on them, and the insurance company couldn't give two hoots what 'brand' it was. It's like saying 'they only approve HKS intercoolers'

this is a stupid question, how would i know if my car has hicas or not?, when i go to turn the car on the Hicas light comes on for a split second like all the other lights on the dash, apart from that it never comes on

I'd say it does have Hicas. Best way to check is either check via Vin number with fast software. Or get under the back of the car and check if the gear is there.
