Hey guys, currently got a problem with my r33 gtst.

It is missing when it is under load. If u rev it when the car is stationary it will not miss if you gradually build the revs up. But if you rev it once then go at it again before the revs come back down it will miss.

It misses when you are driving aswell if you start to put the foot into it. The car also blows out a puff of black smoke when it misses.

Its not the coil packs and its not my inlet piping (cant find a leak).

Has anyone got any ideas as to what it could be?

Im think maybe i should change my plugs anyway but im doubting it would be the problem.

Thanks, Mike.

Hey guys, i changed the plugs today and it made no difference at all. My AFM is only like 6 months old and has been used stuff all so i dont think that it is that. Is it possible to be the o2 sensor?

Anyone else got any ideas?

Thanks, Mike

02 Sensors only "Trim" your fuel mixture.

I would be inclinded to be looking at the Ignition system (black smoke indicating unburnt/rich fuel). But thats not to say its not an injector problem. Biggest thing is to test things when you can replicate the problem - hence the use of dyno's for diagnosis. Its one of those things - to the untrained eye you could spend a long time looking for it.

it started missing after i completed a whole heap of work. ive had stuffed coil packs before and i know the symptoms of them.

car should be going on the dyno sometime this week but i kinda wanted to get rid of the miss before the dyno.

Thanks, Mike

hey guys do u think my problem could be my TPS?

No!!! 99.999999% of the time a missfire will be due to a bad plug (wrong heat range, incorect gap, cracked insulator) or a bad coil (cracked coil boots, foreign particles around plugs/boots and or excessive oil or the coil itself). Also overly retard ignition can casue missfires along with about a thousand other things - check the basics first always!!!!

Can somebody please do a missfire check list and wirte it into a sticky - I swear we see this post every week.

I have similar problem my car falls into a very big hole at full throttle over 4000rpm. I did also have a misfire but a dodgey coil pack was the cause of that. i have exchanged igniter module with a new one still no luck my next step is AFM. if no luck im getting an aftermarket ecu and split fire coils and hope like hell it fixes itself

hey guys 99% sure its not my plugs or coil packs. It misses at any RPM. Ive changed my plugs and gapped them at 26 thou.

Also my injectors are only a couple of months old and were working a few weeks ago, so they should be fine.

I will check the CAS and timing though.

Thanks, Mike

    • Yep that's pretty much what I want to see. Racecars that look and sound like the Group A but with newer tech underneath to make them faster and safer. I'm sure there's enough VK-to-VN commodore, E30 BMWs and Foxbody mustangs shells around to make up a decent number of cars with hopefully a couple of sierras, rx7 and R31s in there too.
    • Contact Jessestreeter.com/Skevas Racing/JustJap for a new r34 rb gearbox or go a cd00# conversion. No point playing with unknown condition gearboxes.
    • Such a shame places like Amaroo Park have been redeveloped, smaller tracks always make for good racing. Cheers for sharing @PranK there's some good Lakeside video's too. Its so hard with older the cars as parts are so rare and everything was made for a particular chassis at that point in time. Even the V8 Supercar Blueprint era cars are all different between each chassis within a team as they learnt things and made improvements. The COTF cars between each Chassis builder is different too especially motor/oil systems/intakes. The Group A stuff is worth so much too especially chassis with good history. The only way to do it would be composite panels and similar engine drivelines to the original cars. Ford sierra running Focus RS driveline, Commodore running a short stroke LS/LT or a Falcon with coyote and a H Pattern dog box. Could use a standard ecu across all models with a Torque Map and DBW for parity which is not even used in Supercars currently. Hell a TCM is almost a full chassis car these days and the suspension is not even close to standard style in the front running cars.
    • Dashcams Australia (13/05/25) captured JDMHSE (Vic plate) being a right tosser.
    • Wish someone would start a racing series for Group A replica cars, a bit like Touring Car Masters but for 1985 onwards and not grandpa's falcon and/or Monaro. I know they race in some historic class but that's for original cars, no replicas allowed.
