i always thought that the flutter noise caused by VLs and other cars is because there is to much air being forced into the car but for no where to go after that?

After watching the HKS R34 on youtube in action i absolutely love the sound it makes. i never was a fan of the flutter but damn it sounds sexi. i urge anyone who loves or hates the sound to watch it.

my question is....if this is bad for the turbo...because the air is being forced back and around the exhaust/turbo.

why has HKS allowed this to happeN?

and its not just HKS.........

I have looked over that car in person in Japan and its modified beyond your wildest dreams anDru, its not some sick VL with a pod filter and intercooler.

i jsut want to know why.....after so much modding there is still excess air not being released...or in short why is it still fluttering?

sorry but im gonna have to quote u

Dont quote me here but i think the reason they dont put blow off valves on it is so that it has quick off-on throttle response.

Think about it, its HKS... do they care if their turbo dies?

but is that the only thing dat gets damaged....the turbo?.........nothign else?

oh and can someone tell me...the stock turbo on a r34 gtt. if i had no bov...compared to one that did.

how much faster are we guessing the turbo will die....if both cars are treated equally. (theres always someone who has to get smart and say shit like that)

Wouldnt recommend taking it off. Guess Nissan did put the blow off valve there for a reason.

Blocking it or taking it off will cause you to run rich, as in popping almost every gear change, and cause your car to frequently stall.

As for the life of a stock turbo, the wheel is ceramic. People's ceramic turbo's fail with blow off valves, so imagine without :|

Ive got a similar 'flutter' sound from my turbo!..talkin' to a guy at my local w'shop he said Ive a 'soft turbo'!! is this the same thing?? the explanation he gave me is much like whats been said already by the guys above...Im gonna keep it anyway sounds to good to lose :D

lol

* takes away andruu's thread making privlidges

yeah. coz inspecting the car in person, and reading about in HPI are totally the same :D

no its not the same but u get a preety rough idea of wat its got...compared to someone who just saw it on youtube......

    • From experience, it will come back to bite you haha.
    • Background: my BMW 225i hatchback (rebodied MINI/X1) came with 3x RE003 and 1x Goodyear Asymmetric something. The RE003 roared and slid around, the Goodyear side was quiet and grippy. Definitely my car was thrashed before it got sent to dealers. My brother also got RE003 all round on his old VA WRX STI, I wasn't impressed with them, car was loud so can't comment on noise. Anyway, Hankook stopped making/updating V12 Evo2. So bought S1 Evo3 runflats. Great daily duties tyre and not that harsh ride. Tyre reviews site/youtube rated them as best stopping in the rain and I believe them. Next set, Goodyear Asymmetric 5 non-RFT. It beat PS4 in tests and is like $100 cheaper, so put them on. Great tyre, more grip then S1 Evo3 but a tad noisier as expected, still rocking them. Next set I am looking to go runflats, probably the new Hankook Evo. Although the new Pirelli PZ5 did well in tyrereviews test. Or go Goodyear Asymmetric 6 which was top tyre last year. The V12 Evo2 on my gen5 Liberty GT wagon did great in cold condition (drove to snowy mountains for a day so my husky can feel his ancestor's roots). Super impressive performance for $120 each lol. Never skimp on tyres, brakes, suspension. There's old pics of my R31's crappy random brake pads bending in the caliper at Oran Park track day somewhere around here. Anyway, my 2 cents.
    • I said "Matlab clone". I could throw one onto one of my linux VMs. Probably only take 10 or 20 hours to sort out the dependencies, relearn how to use it, etc etc.
    • Hi all, got myself a 400R end of last year. Few tasteful mods done so far. Love the thing. Has anyone got any suggestions for sourcing bodykit parts for them over here???
    • Unplug the thermofans and let it idle... Watch the temp gauge as it all goes up... Record the values. And done.
