most flutters i hear pitch up

Interesting, I thought it would be physically impossible for flutter to pitch 'up'.

Got any examples?

I'd be ultra keen to hear any flutter 'pitch up'.

Exhaust wheels (Turbine wheels) do not have nuts.

They are fused to the shaft, And the compressor wheel is reverse thread.

Its more likely to sheer the shaft and snap it in half which i have seen

Compressor wheel is what I ment, yes.

Here is a pic of a spear turbo for my boat.

They get the sound by sandblasting the blow off valve with HKS sand

lol..I thought Bass Junkie was for real..I went...Wuuut the!! + club exec ><

I think the sound is from a closed loop BOV. It isn't an open atmosphere. <<< and no...if you have a plumb back or an atmo BOV installed, once the throttle closes, the excess air between the turbo and the TB is either being plumb to before the turbo or discharged into the air...making no fluttering sound at all.....depending on spring rate/amount of air vented or plumb back

I would imagine having a larger volume intercooler would produce a lounder fluttering noise due to larger volume of air closed off.....I think that is why the HKS GTR has such a loud fluttering noise....

also by having no BOV or bypass valve, as the throttle body opens again, there is a ready supply of air to be sucked into by the vacuum into the plenum...in contrast to having the air dispersed somewhere, requiring the compressor to work quite a duration to re-fill the vented air....so more responsive without the BOV...it will be damaging I suppose but who cares...they have plenty of turbos in stock, the main thing is to impress the press!!

I think the ceramic turbine is only at the exhaust end...if I remember correctly, the intake is made up of sumthing different just to prevent the turbine from smashing to bits "ceramic blasting" the cylinder... the ceramic turbine tends to shoot out of the exhaust if boosted to about 1.0 - 1.2bar..or so I was informed ><....so the ceramic bit will not be affected whatsoever by producing the flutter....

I used to think that the fluttering come from the "sequential BOV" due to it's name "sequential"...it'll be amazing to note how many ppl think along the same line~~... and sad to say I eded up with a HKS sequential BOV

I went ..huh where's the su-to-to-to-to-tooo sound...

and buy those HKS sands...it works magic..my engine is all shiny remember to flush with turtle wax after~~

    • At least you're now aware of the problem and can come up with a solution.
    • Dang. Keen for further updates when you get to it.
    • Welcome to SAU Thomas, sounds like you'd had a bit of a an unlucky start with the car, hopefully you get some better luck now!
    • 1. No need, it only gets used once then is locked in place by the nut 2. EN-62 point 6 shows the conical washer the other way around (BTW I know we discussed above, I hope you are changing the idler as well, while it is no guarantee the bearing is a actually bad, it looks terrible) 3. I'm not really clear on the question, are you worried because it was easy, not hard, to remove the custom timing trigger? As long as it doesn't spin on the crank (when the bolt is tight) all good 4. Yeah just make sure the brand is easy to read as it rolls past 5. The part number is on the listing under the description, 13023-42L00. Given there is a custom part on there for timing (presumably outside the cover), they may have decided to leave that off; I think I would put the washer in there as it also helps seal the timing case from crap getting in.
    • Hey everyone, I recently bought myself a 2001 Nissan Stegea M35, and I've had a few issues that I had to fix, my car would start intermittently and I had a bad rocker cover leak, after a couple days of looking I finally found a part number that interchanges with the OEM starter as the OEM starters at $1300 and I can't afford that, this starter was only $270 and I replaced the start and still had the same issues, I posted a video asking for help online and it went very well, some guy said it was probably a bad ignition switch so I took my dash apart and turns out my ignition switch was half screwed in and was loose, once it was tightened it fired right up, I found a local place called "Boost factory" and they sold me a part of OEM Nissan rocker covers, they were $600 which was a shocker but I couldn't find them anywhere else, so I installed them and fixed my oil leak as the old rocker cover was cracked and warped, I now need to replace my boost air inlet hoses as they have some cracks.
