I thought you might want to see what The Organisation arranged for the UKs Skylines.

Asside from the usual park up of a load of cars (over 100) a parade lap was the order of the day for most of thye cars. Not sure of exact numbers but someone counted 102 Skylines on the track for the parade lap. One R31 led the way driven by Claire Williams (Booty-licious) and after that was a huge array of R32, R33 and R34, GTS. GTT, GTST and GTR.

Obviously there were other full on track sessions with some dedicated to Skylines but, as this was part of a wider Japanese car meet (from Marchs to Scoobies and everything inbetween) the parade lap got people really excited and, if the number of people hanging off the pit wall was anything to go by, it wasn't just the drivers and their passengers that had a good time. Some of the passengers were as young as 3 years old!

Anyway, I thought you might want to see some pictures (the first one is mine):

was just talking to some of the fellas here about that meet you guys had in the UK. 108 is an awesome effort.

the skyline owners here are too lazy to rock up at the same time on the same day lol. but imagine if all the ones in sydney or melbourne got together... i'm sure there's at least 5 on my street.

You guys must have a tight knit community up there in the UK.

Thanks for the reply, it took a LOT of effort to do and we spent over a month putting it together. Some people drove for 5+ hours just to be there and take part. It's a once a year thing to have a National Skyline Meet. The first year we saw only about 30 cars but now it's in the sixth year it really has grown. :(

geosocial factors only explain a small part: the UK has a population of some 60M, and Australia has about 20M. and geographically it would be about the same distance to the venue in both the UK and Oz. here are maps for comparison:

but to be honest, i think there's also a difference of cultures. differing perceptions of what constitutes a 'community' and 'community participation' go a long way to explaining why it's so hard to get people involved here.

So Alice Springs it is then.............................that's fairly central for you all. :P:D;)
