hey there....

my R33 has been off the road for a month now im about to replace the engine... im just curious tho as to what went wrong with my old 25 without cracking it open!

it all started with it knocking up top end.. knock sensor on the power fc would go nuts. due to being tuned for shell extreme PLUS octane booster.. i was running 98 in there.

then it started missing till around 3000rpm then it would fire all cylinders.. blew lots of smoke, of all colours

then it shot oil out my catch can and the dipstick started shooting out and making a mad mess..

believe the turbo let go (was only stock rb25) then engine suffered

any Ideas?

thanks Eddie

if u need more info just ask

If you're asking "why did it fail", that's easy - knocking (pinging) kills motors. When it occurs the pressure inside the combution chamber spikes very high and pummels your pistons, rods, crank, and bearings. The weakest bit then breaks.

Filling with lower octane fuel after a tune is opening up a nasty can of whoop-ass on poor Mr Motor...
