Nice day, good fun , plenty of track time, just wish i had my car there to join in:(

Still enjoyed myself watching everyone go round though,

the Corsair challange was worth the price of admission alone. :O

Yup, it was a great day. I got to drive 4 cars throughout the day. breaking the 1.40's in the corsair challange was one of the highlights, the next was putting the 2 tone territory through its paces. I did 175km in the GTR, 10 laps in the territory and about 8 laps in the corsair, and I rounded the day out with 3 laps in Abo's weapon, until the fuel light came on.

All in all I think I spent more money on petrol then track hire, thats the way it should always be.

I will continue to chase OP for L2S days and keep the post up and current. As it gets hotter I would encourage everyone not to do too many track days.

Thanks to everyone who played in the corsair challange, the car lasted so I cant see why it wont keep running, with the entry fee's , john should be able to keep the car running.

Yup, great fun day. It's also so relaxing to go to a track day and only have to organise myself.

Tried out the new diff. Was up to 2:30am the night before putting it in at Majanals place in the mountains.

It definitely changes things. I came down the straight at about 200km/h, stabbed the brakes for turn 1 then a little gas to turn 2 but was too much because of the diff and lack of rear end grip (my semis have had it), so at about 160km/h I spun around and off into the kitty litter. Had to get towed out but no damage.

That's my first big lose ever on the track. Kind of fun although I would have preferred to do it at a slightly slower speed.

Also enjoyed taking the mighty MADGTR for a spin. The GT-SS's really are great on that engine. It almost feels like a non turbo it's so linear. You really feel the extra weight when braking but the grip is unbelievable.

WHAT A BLAST

I had a GREAT day....

Very different to a normal track day.........sooo much track time, and no pressure.

Must get an in car timer,(thanks Paul for the lend) it really does improve your times when you have instant feedback on each lap.

Being first up in the Corsair Challenge Car, i obviously babied it too much, turning in a 1.46, but hey, the clutch really was crap, and i didn't wish to be the one to spoil everyones fun. I'd have been drummed outta here if it crapped itself. I gave it another go later, on a semi oiled track, redeemed a little dignity with a 1.43

Much was learnt this day (must take jerry cans fulla fuel)

A Special Thanks to my fellow enthusiasts who helped create a perfecty day!

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
