It's coming along nicely thanks!

Me and Nathan spent the whole day and night working on it... we got heaps done!!

JIC castor bars IN!!

Inner guards GONE!

S13 Steering rack IN!!

RB25 head OFF!!

We just have to sort out some new S13 rack ends (with longer threads to suit the magic washers), drilling and tapping a hole in the block for the turbo oil return line and the cometic head gasket (not quite sure on the thickness yet). >_<

I thought the block would of had all the oil and water fittings already there, mine did, must of been lucky.

Have you decided on the comp ratio yet and what boost do you plan on running

You must be using the R32 RB25?? Mine is a R33 RB25.. and it has no turbo oil return line at all but inside the block you can see the indent where it is supposed to be..

We've decided to use the 2mm head gasket which should bring the comp. down to 8.4:1 ;)

A 2mm headgasket drops the comp by ~1 point over the std 1mm h/g.

So given the R33 Rb25DE is 10:1 (I think or is it slightly higher) that drops the comp to ~9:1. ;)

We are using a 1.8mm now so yep i am told it should be around that now.. still high comp but not too much higher than std rb25det comp..

  • 2 weeks later...

This week me and Mark spent quite a bit of time degreasing EVERYTHING so it was all ready to go when the block was done.. we ended up deciding to rebuild the bottom end...

Yesterday we bought;

new piston ring set

timing belt

1.8mm thick 4 layer cometic head gasket

race series bearing set

conrod bearing set

RB25 power steering pump (non hicas)

I also sanded back the lower lip from my GTR front bar.. ready for repainting...

Today Cammo tapped and drilled the hole for turbo oil return line!!!

SO MONDAY IS THE DAY FOR ASSEMBLY!! :)

Today the bottom end rebuild was completed!

Tomorrow the head goes back on!!

I still have to buy a manual spigot bush (from nissan?)

and the non hicas power steering lines should be arriving thurs/fri..

So we should have it all up and running this weekend!! :glare:

50,000km's and no issues with my cometic. :)

THe motor still has the same compression as it did when it was new. >_< So.. Very happy as one would be. >_<

yea but yours is almost N/A Joel

pump some boost into her and see how she holds up! :)

Its been running 1bar through the mid for some time now with my home bodgy tune. Just boost drops to 11psi odd by 4500rpm. :)

So 1bar from 2200rpm until 4500rpm.

Goes quite hard in the lower gears. Just 100km/h + it falls over.

Has no issues edging out a mates r32 rb30det gts4 gt35r making 270rwkw (17psi) through second gear on a rolling run, he passes in third once we are up over 120km/h. So the mid range is definitely not n/a like, just the top end. lol

    • If it's for a SR20, make sure it's not the American Poncams, might as well call them Poocams. Had a set in a friend's car, all scuffed up after a few track days. Like the metallurgy Tomei USA used is junk. Went back to JDM OG Tomei Poncams, no issues till now.   Tomei USA is not the real OG Tomei.   Random rant over, fk the US of A, bunch of c u n t s.
    • Most of the industry in North America either runs on Siemens or Allen Bradley. I have two redundant S7-1500's on my desk right next to me for simulation. Siemens has been losing ground though since Stuxnet, as cybersecurity is a big thing. In my line of work that is federally regulated, you must by law have a cybersecurity management program in place and its audited and inspected every so often.  I work with Emerson PLC's daily (RX3i's) and have done large biogas/refinery projects with their DCS's. Their PLC's are somewhat OK minus the way they do PLC redundancy (You have to download on both PLC's separately every time you make a change )  As for their DCS's... you'll be limited financially first before anything else stops you. Costs are exorbiant at roughly 10x what it would cost you to do with any other system (e.g AB PAC).  1990's, those suckers are brand new haha! Kraft-Heinz (An old client when I use to work for an ESP) still runs Siemens TI505 PLC's from the mid 80's. Ohh how I don't miss working with those... you could only do a certain number of online downloads until it's "Change" buffer would be full and you would then need to go offline to do a full download. There was no warning of when this was coming up and it generally would happen when you would go in at 2am to make changes before production -_-.
    • Unfortunately, not only is that not the case, one of the main "Selling points" of safety over comms is they clearly state in writing that there's no need to segregate safety networks from non-safety networks. It always gets intermingled with everything else on an ICS/OT network.
    • Hello. I have an a31 cefiro but since I am in Turkey we have a CA20S engine. I did some research. Then I found that I can swap with a ca18 but when I heard that it has the similar substructure as the s13. I thought I can swap with an sr20 because the sr20 was used with the s13. So can I easily swap the sr20 on my cefiro or is it difficult?
