Kates always keen to get her hands dirty!!!

In response to those questions:

natural boost is my term for running the vacuum hose straight from the nipple on the compressor housing to the nipple on the wastegate actuator with no boost bleed.

The 10:1 CR will be fine... great actually

The 260cc injectors will be a problem... i know this. Im going to tap the FPR on the head with a socket and hammer.

The motor will drop off after 5000 im sure, but i can upgrade the turbo down the track.

Yeah love i know nathan of course, and i sorta met you at indy

GL with the conversion... Its not too hard. i f**ked my injector wiring cos im a NOOB

That sounds interesting andy! Can i ask why you aren't using a thicker head gasket to lower the compression? I was told that is the first mistake most people make when doing this conversion.

I have a Blitz access computer going on mine and some GTR injectors..

I am using the RB20 manifold and bits of my old engine..

and an RB25 Neo turbo (for now that is) :P

Yeah the RB20 exhaust manifold bolts right on.

also a Neo turbo should be fantastic.

Dont bother dropping the compression. Use too thick a head gasket and you'll kill the throttle response. It will end up being like a RB20 with no throttle response whatsoever.

I think Nathan has decided to use the cometic 2 mm head gasket on mine..

GL with yours too Andy!!! :)

Sunday we trial fitted the stainless manifold, turbo, dump pipe & the HKS power intake pipe on the RB25de..

Nathan just wanted to make sure it was all going to line up properly before he takes the head off etc..

We also removed all the HICAS, degreased the engine bay and fitted a spacer to the steering column..

So nice and clean now!!

My engine bay took me so long to clean!! :)

ahh... we are a few steps closer now!! :)

I will definetly be following this to see the progress, looks very promising!

I hope i can just take the moment to ask you all one thing.. the round black, dirty arm thats in the lower half of this pic (not the lowest), what is the profit of changing it, cause mine came with a nismo one.

Hi there, ive actually just put a RB25DE, +T into my R32 and removed all the hicas and fitted a lock bar. You said you put a spacer on the rack, just wondering what it was for?

ahh our cars have a bit in common then hey!

The spacer just makes the steering more strong & direct.. you should have seen how much i could move the stock one around!!

That is one thing i DIDN'T get a picture of on Sunday! I will have to this week! :)

Are you taking out all the old hicas and pipes? There is so much more room to get to the oil filter with it gone. I took the back off the power steering pump and removed the fins and put it back together, then just blocked the rear outlet. The steering feels great, maybe a touch heavier than before but im happy with it.

I havent had the car tuned yet but ive played around with the tune a bit to get it not to stall while stopping, cold/hot start, and stuff like that which should have already been done. It feels like it has so much more torque than the RB20. I ended up getting a R32 RB25DE (non vct) and with the GT3071R i plan to run 15psi, i left the compression standard and the only thing i did was put the cams out of the old motor(RB20DET) in it.

Ill let you know how it goes once tuned (booked in for the 13th), good luck with it.

Yep all the hicas is gone.. the engine bay really looks empty now!! :( .

The RB25DE i am using is out of an R33 so it has vct.

Depending on the kind of pistons in this engine, we should only be changing the head gasket.

But yes please keep me updated with yours definately!

i just got some RB25DET injectors for my conversion...

apparently the RB25DE injectors are the wrong impedance for the RB20 ECU and you need the RB25DET injectors so the ECU will run them....

hey tiff i just left all that hicas junk sitting in my engine bay... too much effort to remove... not a show car!

andy,

The R32 RB25DE and RB20DET injectors are identical. Both 260cc High Imp top feed.

Either will run on the RB20DET ecu.

turns out thats not the case...

will confirm this tommorow.

by the way, i have a hicas lock bar but i left all the shit in the car anyay cos im lazy...

should be able to start it tommorow tiff... if these injectors work ok.

They are 100% The R32 RB25DE injectors that came with bl4ck32 and my own head were both red top high imp injectors. I dropped a multimeter on them myself.. 100% high imp. Same part numbers everything.

The R32 RB25de's don't run a resistor pack of any kind, its not in the diagrams in the engine manual, only the rb26 does.

I'm sure mr_rbman could also confirm as he too ran a R32 RB25de head on his rb30.

Interestingly the injectors that came out of my rb20det were clear top with a red dot. Not that it has anything to do with r32 rb25de but I found it interesting. They must have run out of red plastic. ;)

    • Do the following first and get back to us. - Clean and verify your IACV - Verify for vacuum leaks/post MAF leaks. (Pressure test is the best and cheapest way) - Do you have a BOV with stock ecu/MAF? If so, remove it.
    • Hey all, The skyline I have is stalling when the engine is at normal operating temp.  When starting it while it is cold, it'll run just fine.  I have replaced the battery (bad cell), I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and clean the MAF sensor.  Any other suggestions?
    • Thanks for all the information on this.  I tried ordering the parts from Amayama website and all 3 Solenoids are discontinued and not available.  Does anyone have any other websites to suggest that I could find the parts?   Separate issue-- I will start a new thread, but basically the vehicle is stalling when warmed up.
    • It's unfortunate what Tomei USA has done to Tomei's name in general. I'm very weary of ordering parts from them now. I only order direct from a Japanse source (e.g Nengun). At least their logos are different, so you end up knowing what you have.
    • Update Issues 5 (plus #4) - 10 After making a claim about issue #4's missing part, DeAgostini Japan sent a whole new issue #4 and it arrived about 2 weeks after that. That was back in early March. It took another 4 weeks to receive issues 5 - 13 though. This update is for issues 5 - 10. Ove the 5 issues the front left suspension and most of the engine have been completed. The quality of the castings and fit of the parts is quite good, it seems better than DeAgostini's BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the Fast & Furious 2 movie, which (to me anyway) doesn't seem to have as tight tolerances or quite as accurate castings.  Each issue has a lot of info about the 1989 - 1993 Skyline range and other Nissan models from that era, but the focus is on the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo and the various racing it did in Japan, Europe (Spa 24hrs) and of course Australia. I've included some text translated with Google Lens in some photos and will add to them if there's anything worth including.
