Hey guys,

Just had a quick question - I've got a little issue with my sub in my car at the moment - when I go to turn the volume past about 15 on my HU the sub works on and off but cuts out. I've got it attached to an 800W Pioneer Monoblock Amp and the Sub is a Clarion Pro dual voice coil.

I'm not sure what I can check out on it to be honest, the power cabling for the amp is very good and I never had this problem with my old sony sub (untill I blew it up though....)

any ideas ? if I can't figure it out I may take it over to Chris at audio express to have a look for me.

Hello there,

It sounds more like ur drawing too much current out of the power side of ur amp. Is your voice coils parralelled or series, and what ohmms is it then. If it dual 2 ohmm voice coils in a parralell connection (positive to positive) (negative to negative) u will have a one ohmm load and ur amp will get hot and cut out at half volume. Most mono block amps can run 2 ohmms minimum.

Good Luck

only suggestion check all wiring is secure, maybe one of the wires inside the box is loose, or check your ground to monoblock is same size minimum as your power, not having a big enough ground will cause it to cut out, also check your rca cable, play with the ends of them and see if they cut out when you wriggle them, if its none of them may be... the devil is in your car
