dont do it...

300's are unreliable and seriously expensive to fix. Plus parts are not that easy to come by and the interior is ugly as sin

Your car is ten times hotter than this piece of crap and way more expensive... but if you got your heart set on it, do the trade and ask for some extra $$ on top

I don't think it's a fair trade, I think your car might be worth more than the Zed.

You think maintaining a skyline is expensive.. imagine maintaining a old TT ZX

Skylines are cheaper and easier to look after and maintain. They also respond better to mods and easier to mod.

ZX arent. The labour is a lot more demanding and expensive. There are just as many aftermarket parts available just many mechanics dont like working on Zeds. Theres a limited (offcourse depending on ur wallet) amount of mods u can do too.

Do your research before you do anything.

doesnt seem like fair trade at all. unless you swap and get cash adjustment your way.

couple of mates have 300's, and always complain that mechanics dont wanna work on their cars. The ones that do, charge alot of $$$.

I would hold out until you get offered something better. If you're selling to save money, that is one thing you WONT be doing with a 300TT. I wanted a 300 for a while but after looking a a few, working on them is really hard work, and the engine bay is already full with all the stock parts let alone anything aftermarket. They also weigh a lot more, so if you want something that's going to perform better, you're still worse off the with 300. Maybe swap for a s14 or s15, but definatley not a 300 TT.

you'd be downgrading in my opinion....the 300 is older, has more K's and because of tht the posibility of major repairs coming up. You've spent almost as much on ur 33 as the asking price of the 300zx...tht should convince you you're probably holding on to the better end of the bargain.

300's are shite sorry to say. There only good for the business men who cant yet afford a proper sports luxury.

They are crap!! Look at the UAS one lol. Has had so much money dumped into it with no returning results besides a big dyno figure.

downgrading huh?

fair enough... keep those opinions coming..

15 posts in this thread, - your 3 posts, and not including this one... every post has told you that the 300TT isn't worth the swap. Stick with your R33, ven though it might apear "free" to you right now, it will cost ou in the long run.

dont do it - your r33 seems much better than the 300. I was thinking maybe a non-turbo 300, when i was still looking at a non turbo supra - but the 300's are way too old now....if you are goin for an older one, go for a r32 gtr...but even then, make sure you got money to maintain it

A mate of mine had a tt 300zx - nice cars - go hard in stock form

A decent fmic setup will take care of the heat issues, but the engine bay is very cramped - took us half a day to change the oil filter ~ imagine that in labour

IMO keep the 33!!!

    • Welcome.  Glad to hear that you have gained some knowledge that has helped you. I believe the only fix for the power steer belt is an electric conversion with a Holden astra pump. If you get a chance, post pics of your car, please. 🙂
    • Just ordered those bosses, hopefully that does the trick thank you very much everyone for your replies it's really appreciated
    • to have this type of adjustment possible with a curve as I wish, what budget (engine) should be planned?
    • People still have Skylines? I thought they're non-existent now.
    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
