BOV - waste of money.

A RB25 has an AFM so expect the car to stall, blow black smoke, and carry on.

Sure, you'll think you sound cool with a big "whooooosh" but you won't sound cool when it stalls when you pull up next to whoever to are trying to impress.

they do have issues, they just dont know it.

if they have the option to plumb back their atmo's, tell them to try it, and adjust it to a soft spring setting so it opens under least pressure. their idle will improve, and possibly response. mine was running great with atmo, even better now with plumback.

how does that work? their cars idle fine, don't really blow any crap, and response is fine. in fact i've had more of symptoms commonly blamed on atmo bovs with my stock plumback.

well i'm not using a stock bov, and have 0 experience with them.

i'm using a GFB hybrid full plumback.

on atmo my car would idle well, but at high revs, then off gas and hit brakes hard, the idle would drop very low, before it recovered and even stalled a couple of times. as soon as i plumbed back, issue gone, and idle was even more steady. that's my experience anyway.

I had a GFB hybrid BOV when I first got my car... prior BOV it went fine, with atmo BOV settings the car started playing up, stalling etc. I then fitted a loose POD and the car totally f**ked up. The AFM solder went haywire... regardless I put the stock BOV back on, got another AFM and put my stock air box on.. car runs perfect now.

ATMO BOVs = hassles. Although I do admit I loved the sound.

I have recently upgraded on my 33 from the stock bov to the GFB 1004 Basic atmo bov. I get a backfire sometimes, but it shoots flames so meh....never stalled, never dropped revs, nothing. I had a fabricator make up a custom flange and gasket for my bov so it fits perfectly...none of these shitty turbosmart flanges u get from autobarn...

While i'm not exactly a fan of atmo bovs...i must say that i haven't really had any stalling issues with any of the atmo bovs i've tried on my past turbo cars...i've had HKS, Turbosmart, Apexi and ARC bovs and they were fine...backfires did happen more frequntly but i certainly wouldn't consider that a problem...they just have to be adjusted properly...

My BOV is atmo and I experience the issues described above, on gas to no gas revs will drop to like 400, engine will splutter a bit then idle returns to normal. Has stalled a couple of times because of this.

It had the atmo when I got it. Cant say as its on my list of things to fix at this point but.

skylines are the first turbo car that i have heard of having stalling issues with atmo bov's. i had one on my 180sx. had the occasional pop on gear changes, but thats it. it wasn't until i got on here that i heard of it. there's a few dozen turbo cars where i live, and all but mine have atmo bovs and none have had any issues that i'm aware of. and all but 1 or 2 run factory ecu's.

I only ask because my GTR came over from japan with the recirculatory system removed, this means that the stock bov's are running atmoshperic.

I figured that being the case I should propbly use some valves that are designed to be atmospheric, to reduce the above mentioned issues.

you'll find after modding the car further from standard the stalling issue becomes more apparent.

I laught at idiots with super loud whooshy twirly stuttering whizbanging cock extending spinny BOVs, because they make all this noise, try and be tough, and then try and drag me......

And get promptly smoked, and shocked to hear the roar of a turbo, that sounds like a 747 landing when coming onto boost...

Wow you're so cool...but seriously...isn't that a pot calling a kettle black...they get a kick out of the sound of their bov and u get a kick out of the sound of your turbo...
