2 Mufflers

Hey guys

just wanted to advise on my exhaust system:

kokimoto cat back

front pipe

2 mufflers

no dump and i think its a stock cat

i wanted to get my exhuast system updated

i wanted to get a dump or a new front pipe

and i wanted or i heard that if i get rid of the 2nd muffler it will be less restrictive and my car will go harder????

and i was thinking of putting a new high flow cat??

i got a quote and to do this will cost roughly $600

high flow cat and dump and remove 2nd muffler do u think its worth it or should i leave it??? will my car eat more fuel???

when i bought my old GTST it just had a shitty kakimoto cat-back on it (3" i think) and i destroyed it when i pulled into a driveway. So i upgraded to 3 1/2" Dump pipe and front pipe combined (HPC Coated), 4" high flow cat and 3 1/2" 5Zigen catback with 1 hotdog muffler.. she was DAMN loud, but jesus, it made such a big difference!! but yeah, i was lucky to get 350 klm's from a tank (and that was with cooler, boost, pod and some other bits n pieces..)

Hope that helps.

Christian

    • Yeah, well, it's not as though anyone is ever going to buy one of those noisy f**kers and put it into a new installation when there are better pumps that are near silent for less money from Ti.
    • I'd suggest having the engine builder listen to it, especially if they assembled it, and minimise how much you run it in the meantime. It may have a serious issue like a big end bearing from the description and I assume the rebuild was not cheap
    • Quite right, typing without checking, it is an 023 which was effectively the replacement for 040 (not that I could find either of them on the Bosch motorsport AU site), and it has a mesh inlet at the bottom of the pump rather than a separate filter
    • Hmm. I should have thought of the clutch bleeding issue. It should be #1 thought for "can't select gears". As to "sounds like the top".....have you actually gone out with the stethoscope and tried to pin it down any more than that? And, buy or borrow a timing light, and set the timing properly.
    • I donโ€™t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS ๐Ÿ˜‚, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,ย  got the box sorted ๐Ÿ˜Œ, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
