And just to set the record straight don't want 300rwkw, but I want my turbo to be capable of it if I ever do want to. I am really only looking at around 270-280, the motor is untouched except for cams.

just some points on the HKS2835proS. This is NOT an all-day-everyday 300rwkw turbo. I think people have read what it "can" make, and taken it as gospel that it is easily achievable. It is only rated at 420ps, even if you factor in your HKS conservative estimate, your still gonna be pushing it for 300rwkw.

Now i know you said you dont want 300rwkw. My results of the full 2835proS kit, with all the support mods were 265rwkw on a totally stock motor, and 281rwkw with poncams. So id say that those are closer to your everyday figures for this turbo, which puts you just where you want to be, but with possibly not the easy potential you want for the future. Its great street turbo.. What are others making with their 2835's consistently?

So if you have cams already, then a jump from 240 to 280+rwkw wouldnt be bad, but just keep in mind that to get an extra 20rwkw to achieve 300, its not going to be a simple boost increase and a tune. With and without cams there is an issue of boost falling off and killing the peak power.

I hear what your sayin' Sly33. And I agree with you that the 2835proS would be a good choice, but also [as you repeat] I would have no head room for any possible future development. One thing that does appeal is that the 2835proS would not be a lag monster, everything owners have told me is that its a responsive powerful choice. The GT30R and the GT3040 - although more powerful - would not be as responsive, they have to have more lag. I have yet to decide....

The real GT3076R is turbo number 700382-12 and cartridge no 700177-5007 .

The Garrett engineers don't recommend the .63 housing on this turbo mainly because the 56 trim compressor makes more airflow than the exhaust housing can let the exhaust gas out of . GT30 .63AR exhaust housings are quite small inside when you look at them .

Before anyone asks HKS made GT30 turbine housings in .61 .73 .87 etc but they also offered the 76mm compressor in 48 and 52 as well as 56 trim . Garrett only markets the GT3076R in 56 comp trim and in the US recommend a MINIMUM of a .82AR exhaust housing . Have a look at the turbobygarrett site under products/turbos GT3076R . Expand the turbine map and note the maximum flow of the three available housings . Maximum flow becomes the restriction if its not enough to be in step with the volume of air the compressor is trying to pump into the inlet side of the engine . Since it wants to choke up the hot side you can't take full advantage of the 56 trim compressors full capacity so its potential is wasted . I've read about good tuners in the States actually getting better response from this turbo and the GT3582R by using the mid or .82AR sized housings after someone tried the .63AR housing . I don't think I'd use a .63 on anything except smaller comp trim versions of the GT3076R/GT3037 or the GT3071R .

It actually will. It is well known that Garrett under-rate their turbos and that you would only require around 480 engine hp to have 300rwkw. I have seen an R33 put out 300rwkw on a GT28RS

While i dont know the specs of a GT28RS, isnt that like saying i know of a 2835pros making 300 at the wheels, but most of them wont in the majority of cases?

I'd like to see a GT28RS (GT2860RS) make 300 RWKW (400 RWHP) on any engine , sure thats not a typo ?

If your using it as a street car, response over power.

A car with more power in the midrange is faster than a car with less midrange if your only talking ~20rwkw difference.

I have the big hooter 600hp on mine, it wasnt too bad at all. But then you compare that to a GCG hi-flow. My extra ~20-30rwkw wouldnt have made me faster unless we were @ the drag strip.

Daily street driving 250-260rwkw is what you want.

Much more your really pushing the envelopes of traction among other things.

Read sly's post, he has worked hard to get where it is.

Nothing is impossible, but when you have to run boost through the roof on stock motors, whats the point?
