Ch 7 and Ch 9 are also doing their own campaigns to keep the antisiphoning laws.

I have a full set of cable Foxtel channels including Foxsports 1, Foxsports 2, Foxsports 3, ESPN, Foxsports News, Eurosports and Fuel. Plenty of motorsport choices on there, so the Foxtel IQ (hard drive) recorder sure gets a workout.

So personally I don't a shit about FTA losing sporting events. Anyway it's just full of endless, mind numbing, repetition of the same advertisments for stuff that I don't want. How many times do I need to see the same flaming add? I GET IT, OK?

I am sure that's why we have those stupid Pace Car periods, so the FTA channels can go to an add break.

:P cheers :woot:

Im with ya there- if people love and want to watch their sport they will pay as do I now-fk FTA anyway

Yeh i think the whole point is WHY SHOULD YOU PAY???

I guess TV is like evrything else in life now- if you want the service you gotta pay. Its like going to the movies of making a phone call. sport on TV has been free from the day it was invented and it looks like that is going to change-what else is free????? nothing really. If I dont have to listen the sht head ch10 taem anymore to watch motorsport Ill pay very happily

EDIT - not seeing the top 50% final Qually on Friday cause of the delay and chanel 10 decided that a kids show was more important at 4pm well thats the last straw for me-FK em-Fk FTA...ill pay for a dedicated sport only service anyday

agree. Why should you pay? because we dont live in a comunist society. this is the real world. Free TV is not really free anyway. you still need to be able to afford a TV to watch it on, and a house to live in. if you can afford those things and want good TV then pay the couple of bux a day and get cable. if not, live with the 'choice' the 3 comercial networks offer you.

I'm not supporting channel 10 because they promised to show F1 live, and they didn't.

I'm not supporting foxtel because the amount of ads on fox is f**king ridiculous.

they're both as bad as each other, and both have some valid points but all the bitching about decent F1 coverage is just for show. None of them really care about the F1 fans as their prime time audience is larger, so F1 will always play second fiddle.

It's simple......For tightasses example--> my father

There shall be no pay T.V or even cable internet because well, we will get fat...

I get shitted off everytime i miss weekend V8's and F1's when im working

And well i cant affort to buy pay t.v can i?....oh yeah that means id have to buy my own house....*cries*

SIGNED btw

And to those who have pay T.V dont know hoe lucky you are when you start rambling "oh theres nothing on?"

Well if the commercial channels weren't restricted to 1 channel each, maybe they would show more sport on their alternate channels.

With digital TV they all have 4 different channels available but the people at foxtel lobbied so that they can't actually use those channels to compete....only ABC and SBS run second channels.

The more we ignore foxtel's pay model, the sooner 90% of the good stuff will turn up back on free TV.....murdoch won't allow them to loose 10m (on 170mil revenue and god knows how big the balance sheet is) a year forever.

So you just accept that you have to pay money now to watch T.V. too? No wonder this country is going down the tubes. People just keep bending over & taking the corporate shaft up the behind, it's pathetic & stupid.

I for 1 will refuse to go to pay T.V. & to me it isn't exactly small change either. Hasn't anyone noticed that even since pay T.V. poped up on the scene that commercial stuff started to take a massive slide in quality?

The reason this is happening is that corporations want to make more money (& lets face it Foxtel is far from the only 1 making money from this) & by making us pay for what we want to watch they make money from sponsors as well as us.

Commecial T.V is feeling the pinch & as a consequence is having to try a lot harder to make it's money due to fewer viewers, hence the masses of ads that they have now & dumb shows like Australian Idol where they can adverstise to young impressional types that companies can make a fortune off of, & are will to pay to advertise throughout those shows.

If the commercial channels were allowed multiple broadcasts & we all told foxtel to go get stuffed no one would have to pay a cent for T.V. that would have some ads but wouldn't be overloaded with them & I could live with that. The fact you guys all just willingly accept that foxtel is the way to go means you have all been sucked in & I think it's nothing short of disgraceful.

    • I think my main complaint with your idea is that there is a veneer of idealism spread across it. You want the simple numbers to make it easier, but all they will do is make it easier for someone to come to the wrong conclusion because the fine details will kick them in the nuts. As it is right now, the tiny bit of arithmetic is NOT the obstacle to understanding what will fit and what will not fit. The reality of trying it is what determines whether it will fit. If you had a "standard rule" that R34 GTT guards have that magic 100mm space from the hub face to whichever side you were worried about, and someone said "excellent, this wheel is only 98mm in that direction, I'll just go spend $4k on them and jam them on my sick ride".....they would just as likely find out that the "standard rule" is not true because the rear subframe is offset to one side by a fairly typical (but variable) 8mm on their car and they only have 92mm on one side and 108 on the other.
    • It still combines inches with mm, especially when you have .5 inches involved, and mm and inches that can go in either direction. This would give a clear idea on both sides of the rim, right away, with no arithmetic. Even better if somebody gives you the dimensions of the arch of multiple cars. i.e GTR may be 125mm, a A80 Supra may be 117mm, or something along those lines. Yes, you can 'know' that going from a 10in rim to a 10.5in rim with the same offset moves both sides about 6mm, but you still have to 'know' that and do the math. Often it's combined. People are going from 9.5 +27 to 10.5 +15. You may do the math to know it, but if it was going from (I had to go look it up to be sure) 241mm/2 - 27 - 93.5mm from the center line to (more math) 266/2 - 15 (118mm) from the center line. Versus 93mm vs 118mm. It's right there. If you know you have a GTT with 100mm guards you can see right away that one is close to flush and the other absolutely won't work. And when someone says "Oh the GTR is 120mm" suddenly you see that the 10.5 +15 is about perfect. (or you go and buy rims with approximately 118mm outward guard space) I think it's safe to say that given one of the most common questions in all modified cars is "How do offsets work" and "How do I know if wheels will fit on my car" that this would be much simpler... Of course, nothing will really change and nobody is going to remanufacture wheels and ditch inches and offset based on this conversation :p We'll all go "18x9+30 will line up pretty close to the guards for a R34 GTT (84mm)" but 'pretty close' is still not really defined (it is now!) and if you really care you still have go measure. Yes it depends on camber and height and dynamic movement, but so do all wheels no matter what you measure it for.
    • But offsets are simple numbers. 8" wheel? Call it 200mm, near enough. +35 offset? OK, so that means the hub face is that far out from the wheel centreline. Which is 2s of mental arithmetic to get to 65mm to outer edge and 135mm to inner. It's hardly any more effort for any other wheel width or offset. As I said, I just close my eyes and can see a picture of the wheel when given the width and offset. That wouldn't help me trust that a marginal fitment would actually go in and clear everything, any more than the supposedly simple numbers you're talking about. I dunno. Maybe I just automatically do numbers.
    • Sure! But you at least have simple numbers instead of 8.5 inches +/mm, relative to your current rims you do maths with as well, and/or compare with OEM diameter, which you also need to know/research/confirm..
