Hey guys.. I got an r32 skyline,

Noticed yesterday car wasnt very as powerful as it has been (in the last couple of weeks). Im pretty sure I have a boost leak somewhere but im just after the stock boost level of a r32 gtst. On the stock gauge it reads about 5 and then dips down to 4.5 or 4psi.. im dead set it usually runs about 7.5

Anyone with any ideas please let me know.

Michael

dont go too much boost, turbo will chuck a hissy fit lol :)

Mine was fine on 16psi for quite some time. Still is fine now; it has a little to do with luck of the draw, and how well the motor has been tuned with regards to NO detonation, mixtures are not lean and most importantly how hard its driven.

Yeah its strange how some people say its crazy to boost a R32 turbo over 12 psi but I know of one guy whose been running his stock turbo on 18psi since he imported the car 5 years ago and it hasnt missed a beat once!

slightly off topic, i've been running my 33 at 14psi on the stock turbo for a few months now. haven't had any issues. people say they lose power after 12psi due to the turbo being out of its efficiency range, but 14psi feels faster than 12. i put it down to about 11psi for a few weeks, and it just felt dead.

Yeah I know what you mean my car made 166 RWKW on 14 PSI but Unigroup put it up to 18 to see how much more power it would make and it made close to 180 RWKW. (stock turbo)

I think what people mean is top end peak power doesn't increase much past 12psi.

The gains to be had by upping boost are through the mid range which essentially accelerates you quicker to the peak power. So.. the car feels quicker.

if i only fang it up through the gears at high rpm it feels great. i think the problem is that so many people hear that it is bad to run them at high boost that they never do, then just tell everyone that they don't go any better without ever trying it themselves.
