Quick Bov Question

If your talking about Turbo Flutter you can get that sound by just removing your BOV. Aftermarket BOV's do this as well becasue the spring is stronger than a stock BOV, so it only opens up at high boost. Stock BOV's have a soft spring so they open on low boost. When the BOV doesnt open the air bounces off the turbo inside the pipes casuing it to make the Flutter sound. So the when your not running high boost the BOV wont open and you will get the Flutter sound or as you say psstt...ttts...ttts...ttts...ttts..ttts, lol.

Its actually running no bov at all that makes that sound, if you block up your stock one the air will have no where to go when the throttle closes so it reverses and goes back through the compressor blades getting chopped up and then back out the pod. This gives you the flutter noise.

A big thread on it here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=60655

Does anyone know if it would make any difference (to performance or sound) if i was to put my hksssq where my stock one is. when i brought the car it was configured in a wierd way where a hks bov was installed but the tubes connected up to the stock bov and in affect im running 2 bov's.

I just wanted to clean up and possibly gett the fluterr sound so was wondering if i directly replaced the stcok one for the hks one would it affect performance and can i get the flutter.

cheers.

locoloc: are you sure the standard one isnt blocked off with a gasket between the flange? But yes you can run just the one if it will fit on the flange.

DFAULT: on most there is a bolt with a lock nut, adjusting this will make it softer or harder.

If you want the flutter sound you have to remove/block off both your bov's.

Is the HKS one set up so its recirculating?

im pretty sure that somehow the HKS SSQ somehow opens - closes - opens - closes, gving not quite a flutter sound, but a sequential release, dont quote me though
