New Speeding Fines in Qld

I know that nobody on here speeds but just thought you would be interested in this snippet from the GC Bulletin:

From Easter, drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 40km/h will face a $700 fine, a loss of eight demerit points and a six-month licence suspension.

Thats getting really tight, but alot less that vic, down there if ur 25 over its 6 month loss...

I never speed in normal out and out driving... just aint worth it....

canyou imagine doing 40kmh over the speed limit .... thats like a 100 in a 60 zone .... stuff that .... I say they should be cause.

True it is 100km in a 60 zone - but think of the highway - 100km speed limit and you decide to overtake - you put your foot down and then look up at the speedo - whooops you are doing 140km - in a turbo skyline it doesn't take much to hit that mark!

That's a worry on the bike, I could see my license vanishing pretty damn quick if there was a cop at the right place at the right time.

Oh well, will just have to do more track days or get an interstate license. NT license still doesn't have demerit points, might get mine back when I go up mid year.

Man when I got done for that it was 6 points and $280 bucks or something around that much. But 6 points in one go hurt me.
