Negative Manifold Pressure

During idle and normal acceleration, the factory boost gauge reads below zero. It's only during decent acceleration that the needle goes into positive territory. Is this normal?

this is due to the turbo not being spooled up enough to create positive pressure. then once the turbo starts to spool up it goes into positive boost and thats when the power really starts to get made.

all the previous answers are wrong, disregard. you're dangerously low on boost juice and your turbine will shatter if you keep driving!!

nah it's normal. turbos are just an air pump driven off exhaust gas if they don't have a large flow of exhaust gas they won't produce boost!
