Qld Plate Cars In Nsw...

Hiya, i'm wondering if us, QLD plate cars, are liable to get defected in NSW?

As far as i know yes you can, as soon as you cross the boarder you come under NSW law. I had a discussion with a police officer about it about a year ago, cos my mate has VIC plates on him skyline.

Yeah you can but its alot of paperwork for them to do so most of the time dont bother...But I have also heard once you go back to QLD can pull sticker off as both states dont talk to one another so wouldnt come up on there computers...

But do you live here and havent changed plates over yet?

If you live in nsw, then after 3 months it would be illegal (defectable) to have it registered in Qld.

I lived in sydney with Qld plates for 4 months and was never really a target for police.

If you are staying in a different state for longer then 1-3 months you are supposed to transfer registration.

The way to get around it is to just say you are on holidays.

If you have changed your license to say nsw and stay with a qld rego you will get fined.

I drove around for ages with NSW plates and never got in trouble! I always said I just picked the car up a week ago and they were happy with that....I also got waved through a defect station so maybe the story about the extra paperwrok not being worth thier while is true!

I would say that for one thing to screw over a person who is passing through or just moving to NSW with a defect is not really what the police want but if your car is spastic with defects then well that will depend on the police officer to weather or not the sticker is placed on the window .

simple rules to follow if you have defectible parts and are going to have the police on your arse then get rid of them if they are out of the way and are not like a external wastgat etc then you may be ok . It may help alittle with the out of state lic and rego but it wont get you out of everything .

Dude if yr just here on holidays and stick to the road rules you will be fine... there are heaps of Queenslanders driving around Sydney even as we speak/type
