Hey guys,

Over the last 8 months or so i've been slowly putting together a twincam rb30 setup for my R31. Now this was all going well and was about 95% complete, untill i managed to crash my car on sunday (i was in a captain planet suit when it happened actually...) It was a relativly minimal accident, no one was hurt, except my car, a r33 skyline and a vz commodore. Now i have to sell off some parts that i was going to use, so i can pay for the repairs to their cars. (lesson: always get 3rd party property insurance!)

anyways, heres the prices, if you dont wanna pay what i want for them then fine, ill just keep em, but considering they are in exactly the same condition as when i bought them off other forum users, i rekon what i payed, or a little less (for SOME items) is fair. I also have reciepts for everything.

- GTS2 front suspension setup (yes, with the bilstien shocks!) and r33 calipers $1000 ($800 without 4 pot callipers)

- A Bosh 044 fuel pump, $SOLD - BRAND NEW IN BOX

- And a Sard rising rate fuel pressure reg $180 - BRAND NEW IN BOX

- A alloy oil catch can $75 (custom made by ISLEEP) - BRAND NEW

- A alloy surge tank $SOLD (custom made by ISLEEP) - BRAND NEW

- Bare RB25DET intake plenum - with cracked corner piece, repairable $20

- Standard RB25DET exhaust manifold - $100

- 48mm External HKS style wastegate - $200 (i paid 330)

- GT35r (XR6t specs) BRAND NEW - $1650

- 740cc NISMO fuel injectors - $840 BRAND NEW IN BOX

- RB25 ignightor pack (connect the coils to the engine loom) - $100 (i paid 150 for it from this forum about 5 months ago)

- POWER FC for rb25det - $SOLD BRAND NEW IN BOX

- RB25DET complete engine loom - $200

- Q45 AFM, with plug and bottom half of air box. - $150

- Pager alarm system - $100 BRAND NEW IN BOX

- 600x300x76 intercooler, no-name brand but still looks good quality - $100 BRAND NEW IN BOX

- BOSH EL falcon coil packs, good for wasted spark setup (eg, power fcs) - $100 BRAND NEW IN BOX

- RB30DET engine complete, minus 2 turbo suport lines. -just tell me what you want to come with it and we can work out a price. OFFERS? (if you live in sydney i'd love to help you get this running, just as long as i get to go for a drive in it)

I also have a series 1 TI in storm grey that im parting out. Theres is only damage to the front end of it, and it has a manual conversion that i will be selling complete - the box is from a r32gtst. It also has lovels springs and shocks all round, afterburner tail lights, all electric options, and those cool blue velour door cards. -I'll have to work out prices for these from other sales on the forums, but feel free to PM me your offers.

Im located in the eastern subs of suyney, and my number is 0420 316 326

thanks guys

-Tom

that turbo looks like a GT30R rather than a GT35R (GT3540R).... only because its using a .50 comp housing rather than a .60 or .70, but i may be wrong....

can you provide some more specs about the turbo and where you brough it from, thanks

xr6's run the 0.5 a/r compressor standard

Is the bottom end utilising standard rb30 pistons, rods etc

If so RB30E or RB30ET (need to know for compression difference)

What kind of head, 25DE, 25DET, 26DET?

What other components, Headgasket, type and thickness etc.

Any details you have would be appreciated along with a ballpark figure :(

About the RB30...

It has a stgandard rb30e bottom end, It has a genuine nissan headgasket, it has a rb25det head. I will accept offers of 1100+

About the turbo...

It is the same CHRA (center housing, wheels etc), the exhaust housing is exactly the same as the Garrett 1.06 version (except it has "Ford" cast into it), and the compressor housing is a .50 sized one (smaller than the .70 version). The parts are all made by Garrett, so there is no problems with quality control or mismatched bits.

I wouldn't say it is rated at less horsepower, the XR6 guys seem to be pulling out rediculous power figures for a "stock" turbo. The only difference I can see is with the smaller compressor cover the compressor map would be more efficient at lower boost levels (less than 25psi) than the .70 cover.

thanks for the interest

is the RB30 put together?

It would have to be shipped if I wanted it..

What have you done to it to improve it

ie:

Is the VVT setup

Whats the static compression

Have you moved all the idler tensioners

etc

Let me know

Thanks

the engine is 90% together, there are no spark plugs and the intake plenum is curently off the head as i was going to put my 740cc's in, but i can put it back on mefore it is sold. (740cc injectors are not included stock injectors are still in)

The VVT is all setup.

The compression ratio is 8.5:1, just like all stok rb30e blocks with rb25 heads

The timing belt tenisoners have been setup, there is a timing belt on it already.

-I can get you guys some high res pics of it after the weekend, id get them earlier but i have no car and the gear is at my pop's garage.

thanks

sounds good.

Just a few more q's.

1. Did you "refresh" the engine

2. What was done in the "refresh" if it was done?

3. Will you ship it, and how much do you think it would be?

hey tom,

i'll still be coming down this saturday can't wait :) just a quick question what manifold where you going to use with the turbo? and have you still got the turbo and wastegate? If you still got it in a month or two i'll probably grab it off ya give the motor the turbo it was always meant to have :)

    • Hi There I went through a rabbit hole of reading about Xenon headlights and the ADR regulations for having them installed. As people have been defected by running factory xenon I was researching in ways to make them compliant. Everyone always say needs to be self leveling and have washer installed, which I don't necessarily agree with. For this argument I'm using R34 as reference as I'm more aware on the construction of the headlight compared to the R33 Xenon, which may still be the exact same case.   For the self leveling clause taken from ADR 13 - Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles As you can see the bold text "these manually adjustable devices from driver seats" are fine to use. As Series 1 Xenon model headlights do have a 4 level adjuster on the right near the ignition (however not series 2) then these model are consider compliant in that argument.   For the Self Cleaning aspect of this argument clause taken from ADR 13 - Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles Now i can understand the argument that Xenon will need a washer as they are over 2000 lumens, but I clicked on the 12 at the end of that sentence and it takes me to the end notes which states R34 for headlight lenses are plastic, not sure if PL is mark as I don't currently have my skyline to confirm that marking is there. But could you not technically get a lenses with the PL marking on it and then get away with the argument that you need a washer. I went through a quick read of the adr and might have missed something else that may cause them to be non-complaint.    But wouldn't these technically be complaint headlights   Would love to hear other people input on this and shed some light   Edit In regard to the the washer portion I might be mistaken ADR 45 (which I believe is Regulation NO.45) states 12 cd (candela) I dont understand that portion in regarding to calculating the candela if anyone can shed some light. Otherwise I guess throw in a washer for the headlight and you definitely comply.

    • I'd say closer to OG GTX3582R, just smaller trim - so 59mm inducer/82mm exducer as opposed to 62/82 for the first gen GTX3582R. Yeah EFRs were boss, the EFR8474 is still an absolute beast and it perplexes me that people still go to things like Turbosmart/Garrett etc when the results people are getting with those are pretty unremarkable compared to what you could get with a turbo available well before those options came out.  DriftSquid (I think) "upgraded" from an EFR9174 to a Turbosmart turbo and promised a comparison video - and kinda shuffled awkwardly and did a bit of diversion from the fact that they didn't get any improvement going to the currently massively hyped brand of turbo from a turbo that was a bit of a frankenstein that had been well superceded in it's own range before the Turbosmart unit he put on there even came out. I suspect the EFR would outperform most Xonas for what a lot of less-insane RB owners would go for, in the 400-600kw range but the Xonas are looking hard to beat up to maybe in the mid 700kw range at this stage- basically where EFRs don't really reach, and before the Precision turbos take over.  What the Xonas do well in the "EFR range" is be easier to package etc, and work very well if a divided housing doesn't suit your application.
