Guys,

Ive been reading on ns.com and there seems to be an awful lot of imports being stolen. 180sx/skylines, you name it. Lock up your pride and joys and be cautious of where you leave it if its for extended periods of time. A recent thread I read there was a silver r33 series 2 stolen in broad daylight. Remember to lock up your cars. If you havent got an alarm/imobilisor, YOU SHOULD BE SHOT! seriously, get one now FFS! May not prevent them from being stolen but it will sure as hell make it harder not to mention pre-requiste for insurance purposes.

I was told from a mate (Vange) who was followed by an undercover cop last night. So from this I gather that they will be more inclined to follow/check on us due to the fact that we drive imports. Just a head up people.

Been worrying about the same thing, seeing more and more threads on imports getting nicked. I was with Vange last night and the cops went through a red light just to follow us so I'm pretty sure they were doing the standard rego checks on us (or waiting for us to do something wrong)

thats OT Joel. But if you didnt know, its HG Razor Ramon. Wrestler turn comic from Japland.

Looks like he's wearing leather, the hat + the body movements.. I think thats what gives it the gay look.

EDIT:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masaki_Sumitani

He apparently pretends to be homosexual for comedy. But isn't gay...... I guess it must be the cultural differences or something. :)

Sumitani himself is not gay. In fact, his supposed homosexuality was exposed as a gimmick when he was caught in the midst of a date, in "civilian" clothes with Japanese actress and swimsuit model Anna Suzuki, whom he has since married[1] He has been criticised for his stereotypical depiction of gay men and for building a career on parodying a social minority with "bizarre and extreme" "erotically charged antics" [2]. Despite his popularity in the mainstream, Hard Gay is not popular among some Japanese gays and lesbians, and his best-selling book did not sell well in gay areas.

g0t blue oyster :(

i agree lock up your pride and joys,

even when u have an alarm try ever o hard not to forget to turn it on (for those without autoarm) young ones that live near your car are just waiting for the day they drive ast your house and see no red light to come back @ 2am and steal your car

Not sure which thread it was in but somone was asking about the gsm alarm systems (the tracking ones) here is a link to ns.com post with the one they put int there project car.

paleeeez change the title to Rise In The Theft Of Imports

it's giving me the shits.

:(

kthnx

auto-arm is a must. mine's garaged overnight, but when i'm at my gf's or somewhere else overnight, i get paranoid. keep em locked up i say.

Definetly. Any deterrent is a good deterrent. Also daily's are a good idea, but not everyone has one. Anytime your not driving your car or near it, anything can happen. Let these thieves know that we are on to them and they are messing with the wrong ppl.

A heads up ppl, apprently there is a skyline thief expert on the prowl in Adelaide. Just read from a thread on ns.com - who would imagine of all places to get this info. Take it with a pinch of salt.

I am seriously thinking about installing 10,000 volt probes inside my door handle for would-be thieves :O .... to back up my pager alarm, immobilisers and kill switch :P .... I would love to catch one of these a$$holes in action on my car - it's almost worth sitting it in the TTP carpark one night and a dozen of us sitting in bushes in wait with baseball bats - and make sure we film it so they show it (with blacked out faces) on Today Tonight to show potential car thieves what they are in for when they get caught.

seriously, i dont know why the police doesnt implement such an idea. that way, wouldnt they catch the thieves quicker? beats me how they go about their operations...

not wantin to come across the wrong way with this, but my car aint an import. i live in a nice suburb yet some c**t tried to nick my wheels one day. it was sittin out the front of my house and someone tried to nick em. heard wheel nuts crackin and went out with a baseball bat. this was middle of the day too. if i didnt hav a gastro bug at the time i woulda chased the lil f**ker and he wouldnt want to hav been caught

got as far as a kill switch and central lockin in me car, savin for the pager alarm ive always wanted (and the one my insurance company likes)

that would go nicely on you tube would get millions of hits :)

on a side note i heard the owners (x2 of them) sold youtube to google for wait for it $2.2bn WOW

but really all cars are stealable you only have to forget your alarm and bingo your number is up club locks are good but only deter 96% of stupid (amature) theives which is wot most of them are

I'm glad I've got a deacent alarm/immpbiliser on my car now, never was happy with the old 1.

I'm seriously thinking of adding additional hidden kill switches too so that if I leave it somewhere, no f*%ker is gonna have a chance cos they just won't know where to look.

Maybe we should actually set a car up to be flogged with a tracking system & see where they actually take the thing to. Then when they get to the destination the real party starts with a 000 call......

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
