Im going to import a R33 GTR once my S15 is sold and want 250awkw from it. Is this possible with the stock turbo's and 1 bar or less boost? I was thinking of these mods to get me the power:

3" full exhaust

Apexi pods

Hks cam gears

Blits dual SBC spec R

Apexi power FC

Tuned at 1 bar

Is there anything else I would need? I've heard 33 and 34 GTR intercoolers are efficient up untill 280awkw is this true? also should I get a 3.5" exhaust or is 3" enough for that power level?

Im sure this has been covered before but I've tried searching and havn't found answers so no flamage plz.

Cheers.

Hey chris being a GTR owner myself, the 250 awkw is achievable. but boosting the stock turbs to 1 bar is dangerous, as the ceramic exhaust wheel start to break aroun that boost. the mods you have will support it, but dont expect it to live very long. 3inch exhaust is far more than enough. would consider swapping the turbs for HKS GT-SS or R34 N1 and putting a nice FMIC in. The APEX pods are one of the best on the market, if not the best. the stock intercooler will suffice, but dont be surprised when on a hot day it gets mayor heat soak. on the stock car this is achiveable, but would question the relaibility of the setup.

3.5 IMO.

And the stock coolers are good for a lot more than 280rwkw mate :)

Keep the boost to around 12-13psi and whatever it makes, it makes

^^I agree. I looked into selling the s15 and getting a gtr for quite some time.

It is just not worth the risk winding up the turbos as the cam overlap is so that if a wheel does come off there is a good change the dust from it coming off will end up scoring the bore and damaging all the bottom end bearings.

GT-SS are not much bigger than factory but are extremely efficient. They will come on boost the same as stock but with 1.2 bar make between 280-310rwkw depending on the dyno, engine and tuner.

it's definately possible. the mods you have listed will get you there. just be aware that when you do get there you will run into a couple of limitations:

1, the turbos (they are not 100% reliable at this boost level, though it's arguable if it's boost, or treatment/maintenance that kills them)

2, the injectors - you will be just glancing 100% duty cycle with a nice safe tune

3, the fuel pump - it's getting marginal around the same level as the injectors, particularly due to age

Othert things too will need an upgrade such as suspension and brakes. and an oil cooler is a very wise idea. stock clutch will not last too long at that power level if you plan on driving it hard.

if you want to go any further it's time for:

upgraded AFMS

upgraded injectors

upgraded fuel pump

replace turbos

consider some small upgrade cams at this point too.

250kw at the wheels will be quite a fun GTR.

3.5 IMO.

What he said. 3.5 will definatly help over a 3"....

I ran stock turbos at 1bar for a couple of years no problems, including track days. 250rwkw or so everday. Pod filters aren't needed, stock airbox will do, no fancy boost controller is needed. Better off spending on a PFC if over a boost controller.
