What Can I Get For $5k ?

Hey 1st post. I am moving to Australia End of November, (sunshine coast) and am looking for a car possibly similar to a skyline, silvia, 180sx etc. Manual, 2 door and non turbo for insurance reasons...

I have looked at many sites and carsales.com etc.

Can someone give me a reasonable answer can i expect to get anything decent for 5-6k cash?

could possibly get a silvia non-turbo for around 4k through a private sale but expect alot of k's to be clocked up on it.

dont know of any 180's goin for under 8k's.

only skylines you'll get for under 5k would be a r31.

R31 is a solid platform if you want to make it nasty later...

I mean they are a skyline base with an rb30 motor to begin with...

NA auto cefiro you should be able to pick up too. Probably wont be the wisest choice tho as insurance may still sting you a bit.

I got a VC Valiant you can buy for $3000 (shamless plug). Your best bet is for an R31 as parts are cheap and easy to come accross. Plus you can get them for 4 grand and 2 grand to spend on mods

And as said you could pick up a very nice R31 for that price range

Even though FWD is a little gay.. for around $5-6k you're probably more likely to get a nice FWD than anything too exciting in RWD, and they're fun to drive

hrm....

i can think of quite a few 1980's cars in that price range that are decentish, and sporty, though alot of them are turbo so that counts them out for you immediately....

what about something like an AE86 (if you can find one without Takumi Tax added on)

cheers for the link, i have a few forums that i am trolling for cars, silviaforums, bootcruising, car sales, ebay, trading post and here. Lots of good options to choose from. Got some good offers by members already.
