You guys are a pissa, Nandos Lemon and herb is hot enough for me! :D

But rush on the other hand, she's the same as you guys, extra hot everything but then complains she can't taste it :)

word!

ppl need to have two levels of 'extra hot' - extra hot (for the weak sauce) and extra hot (for the hardcore)... because when i order extra hot i want my eyes to water like ferni's does if he get's too close to my order

meanwhile, can someone please explain to ferni that chilli actually has a 'taste', once you can get past the heat aspect of it...

here in perth we used to have a mexican resurant chain called The Good the bad and the ugly. It stood for good food , bad service and ugly waitresses (that was thier pitch). It was the first experience I had of the habanero as I attempted to eat THE DYNAMITE, a nacho dish made from pulped habaneros as the basis of the salsa. If you could eat it all in 30min your meal and all your drinks were free. At the time I was 18 ,many years ago. being a thai food nut at the time I foolishly scoffed at the challenge, thinking mexican jalepenos were weak so this habanero thing was probably nothing special. The first bite told me how wrong I was but, I pushed on through the pain. I almost finished it but, ended up a mess defeated and feeling so unwell I had to get a lift home with....my mum! It almost killed me, well maybe the wild the sphincter of the universe helped too.

That was the begining of my obsession with true hot chilli, I could not let the habanero win. It had dealt me such humiliation it just had to become my new best friend.

anyone who likes hot stuff, try and get a hold of some 'turbo supercharge' from the chilli factory (i think thats what its called). kinda hard to come by but damn, easily the hottest thing i've ever eatin.

It's a very very mild habanero chilli paste. Tastes ok though. For people not used to habanero it's a safe introduction. It's not very hot. They didn't go for super power though, most people wouldn't like it if they did.

I preffer not mixing in anything other than pure chilli in my sauces, any other ingredients you might like to add always taste much better if they are mixed in 'fresh' at the time of serving.

this is all true.

mmmmmmmmmm chilli

i personally dislike non chilli foood.. it's WAY too bland and tasteless. if i could, i'd go to ogalos/oportos/nandos over standard maccas/hungryjacks/or any other shit restaurant.

oh yeah, and i'm not satisfied til i sweat. ;)

same here

lol

That's a great piece of advice. I'm always looking for ways to add chilli after I finish cooking so Nelly doesn't have to eat it. Unfortunately though I lose my tolerance after a while and have to rebuild again. The sacrafices of marriage :D

I really get Shi**y with maccas ads about how hot their sauce is. What a pack of tamperers! So hot even Ferni could eat it ;)

When I married my wife 10+ years ago, she hated hot food. I snuck very small amounts of chilli into everything I cooked gradually increasing it till she was addicted to endorphins. She now enjoys it far more than I do. :D

Nothing wrong with losing tollerance as getting it back is alot of fun too.

I love hot meals! Especially a nice hot curry. But unfortunately lately (as mentioned earlier) my taste buds and mouth can handle it, but my stomach HATES it. I get the worst gut aches. I'm pissed off because I like a good challenge. :glare:

I do hate when the curry reaches the 'other' end though :O

Exactly what happened to me

You cant keep doing it forever :ninja:

I was a chilli king. Ate 'em all & lots of. Friends used to get off in restaurants seeing what I could eat.

Now it really messes with my guts the next day.

Hey Pete, I got a chilli plant @ home that will make u run crying like a girl.

In fact, I challenge anyone to eat one of these babies.

I will shout a jug to anyone who can chew one, swallow it & not spew. :P

Ralph: "Wait, mister, you're drinking a candle. You don't want to get wax in your mouth, do you?"

Homer: [slyly] "Maybe I do, son. Maybe I do."

Chief Wiggum: "Afternoon, Homer. Care for some chili? I've added an extra ingredient just for you. The merciless peppers of Quetzylsaccatanango! Grown deep in the jungle primeval by the inmates of a Guatemalan insane asylum."

ferni and i went to this mongolian bbq place a while back and they had a chilli challenge to see who can eat the hottest chilli peppers etc... didnt enter because, well, with ferni, there is really no contest :)

Forgot to mention, Maggi is a thai cooking sauce by Maggi but I haven't found it here. try a mix of terriyaki and soy.

Thai sweet basil is not like italian sweet basil so look around for the right stuff.

theres some maggi sauce at work with a thai recipe.. forgot wat it was now but ill take a pic tomorra n if its not the right one ill mclook it up on the computer at work

The Chilli debate - ahh yes. In my youth I was known to eat an orange habanero raw and with seeds on a dare - I fronted up to 'Monsieur Derango's Chilli Tequila Challenge' (although I didn't win) and I dabbled in some of the hotter sauces available ('Megadeath' sauce springs to mind....)

I even partook in son of rajab T's 'Chilli Con Carnage' prepared with the capsiceine powder that's triple sealed and not to be consumed in it's pure form. I have huddled in the corner in the foetal position with a 2 litre bottle of milk to make the pain go away and dreaded the 'Ring of Fire' the following day.

But these days are gone.

Nowadays I still like my hot food - nose sweat is a must - but I can also appreciate the different tastes and textures of the varieties of chillies. The smokiness of the Habanero, the piquant little Thai peppers. All have their joys and none are more supreme then the other. :P
