I personally liked the turbo sound, BOV and feel of the car. It was originall a drive in an s15 that swayed me towards imports...

Now i like the go, feel and looks of Skylines. Also they are cheaper than local cars and more reliable and have a better rep!

i was 18, i wanted a 300zx but was told by anyone in the know not to get one, so decided that maybe as a second choice an r33 skyline would do.

saw one that seemed like a good buy, owner took me for a test drive, straight away ripped it sideways around a roundabout then nailed it to the top of second, after this point i was more impressed than ever before, and knew i had to have it! (bought it)

sold that one, not long after that bought my current 33, same year and colour, reason being i had such a good time in the old one, and i didnt like any other car for the $$.

I had a gti-r, that i was about to throw about 15-20 grand at to make it good for doing the track work.

i got an offer to sell the gti-r and use some of ths 15k to get myself into a circuit thrashed sl*t of a gtr from japan.

and here i am! i love it. and i hate it.

For the last 12 or so years my mum's factory has been like 50m from a import yard so every time I visit her I see imports imports and more imports...

Seeing so many and always being around them just made me "MUST HAVE" one :D

Also being neighbours etc I got it rather cheap :)

Good Bang for buck, for 13grand there wasnt much that competed with the high performance sports coupe that my machine is... haha

i was 19, owned an older audi beast for a few years, skyline was my dream car at the time, went and drove one, owner boosted it hard 1st and 2nd gear up parra road and that second i KNEW i had to have it....

when i eventually picked it up a month or so later, driving back down parra road, looked left onto shopfront reflections, saw the car and just smiled :)

only prob is it feels slow now so time for upgrades :D

I got one cos everysince i was about 11 and saw one on a performance show back in Poland where i lived, i said one day i would own one of these. It was an r33 GTST S1 and i instantly fell in love.

To me r33 is the best, personal opinion.

Had my 1963 bug written off, wanted a comfortable car which was also fun to drive. I was getting a loan so I could get something nice. So I started looking at imports and ruled them out one by one.

Wanted an r34, but they were too expensive, and I wasnt getting a sedan.

Looked at toyota soarers, but just didn't like the seating position and the feel.

Looked at non turbo supras and they were too impractical (i.e. no boot or rear passenger space).

Dont like the shape of 180's.

Mitsubishi FTO's were too small and I wasnt getting a front wheel drive again (had previously had a corolla).

Looked at the r33 gtst and fell in love with the shape, seating position and just the general first impression. Took one for a drive and thought to myself "wtf am i gonna do with all this power" cause I've never been in a car that is as quick. Spent a bit of time looking around at dealers and stuff trying to find one thats in good nick and the year model I wanted (couldnt get anything older than 10 years). I found an immaculate example at Edward Lee's Japanese Auto Center that had just arrived from japan. Its a silver 1997 series 2. Put a deposit down for $17999 which includes 12 months rego, 12 months warranty, full detail and paint protection and a courtesy car to drive while all the compliancing gets done.

I was sold.

h :laughing-smiley-014: ah... oi... lol i came from driving a commodore... have some consideration

don't worry, I drove one too at some point. Thats why I am qualified to say they suck

I did a similar thing to funky - started with a s13 --> cefiro --> 180 --> R33! the nissan family tree getting well represented in my driveway.
