is it possible to run a series 1 rb25det on a r32 ecu i only ask because the 25 is in a s13 and is allready not using the few things like the speed dependant power steering and the vct has been removed from the engine there is also a few other bits and pieces that were removed.

in short is it possible as i would like the option of a cheap remappable ecu

By the time you purchase the parts, ECU... and change a few things over to make it work.

You'll be close in terms of costings to PowerFC and that sorta thing.

It can be dont, there was a thread about it some time ago, although i cant remember exactly what it was about but i remember reading something.

Try the search button, might take ya 15mins to wade through some threads but you never know

you might be thinking of the thread asking if the rb25 ECU can be used on the RB20 ..

there are injector pins outs different.

also look at the Power FC FAQ on pauls site

http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com in documents

it has the pin out change over GIF that i think cubes made with the differences in teh pinouts.

if your realy keen to do it, start in there

just use the RB20 loom and AFM

so long as the AFM and CAS are RB20 units, it will run.

The AFM will simply read more air flow and compensate with more fuel... so if you have turbo injectors (370 compared with the RB20's 260's) youll find it will run too rich.

i found that the knock sensors are the same units, and by visual inspection the CAS looks to be the same (i will know for sure in a couple of days)

oh and just note that the RB20 ecu has no provisions for the NVCS so you will need to go to Jaycar to sort that out;.

    • Based off what you’ve said here, I think I’ve figured out a good bit of what I’ve done wrong -  So on the line going from the PCV valve to carbon canister, there’s a T joint that is pretty much right next to that lower port - I hadn’t noticed that the hose in the diagram was curved to attach onto the carb, so I was putting that line for the lower port onto the PCV line / carbon canister line instead. I’m going to have a flick through the manual again tomorrow and should hopefully find a diagram that’ll show me where that T joint should be connected to. Timing also 100% needs to be sorted out as well, should be able to tackle that tomorrow as well. Definitely feel like I should be on the right track now though.
    • The screw is for idle (pilot circuit) mixture adjustment. Else, I'm confused ~ the diagram shows 2 carby ports, and the intake manifold port, but you're suggesting the "2nd port on the back of the carb that isn’t mentioned in the diagrams" ...yet, both carby ports are shown...que?... ...in any event, that port should be connected, but if not (like it is now), it's unlikely to cause a backfire out the carby (it would introduce false air and give you a fast/lean idle) ...sounds more like timing issues/spark plug wire routing responsible for the backfiring.
    • That's fair, I can see both points. I get enthusiastic when I see the FS section has a new post and want to see what interesting thing someone is selling. Then I get deflated it's a bump of a 10 year old post. Ha ha
