mate anything is possible if u wanna go and pull and roll the hell outta ur guards, but say goodbye to normal street driving and going up driveways without scraping, and when it comes time to sell ur car...good luck...oh and not forgetting when the boys in blue stop you....u'll need more than luck...more like lube :O

if u mod sensibly u'll be fine. Lots of cars out there might look hot with wheels sticking out past their guards and lowered to their guts but how many of these you can actually enjoy driving in comfortably as a daily driver??

Ive got 9.5" 18s on the front of my gtst and only get slight rubbing on the inside of the guard when doin hard cornering. Im not sure of the offset but I have a 8mm spacer so they clear the brakes and have stretched 225/40s tires. The inside plastic has been removed and guards have been rolled. Car also sits pretty low at the moment, 315mm from centre of wheel to guard. When the car was higher i got zero rubbing even with a full car.

hey FOG35 where did u get ur guards rolled at?

Width is all well and good but what offset are we talking?

I have 18x8's on my R32 GTS-t and have trimmed my rear guard lips right back and occasionally get a scrub.

I wouldn't get a wider rim on unless I had more offset but then would not be sure if they would touch on the inside...

thanks for that CATKICKER... i went back to tempe today to change the fronts to 8.5".. and they had to roll my back guards... and the freaken charge me 100 extra for hasslin them.... far out

Rolling the rear guards for $100 is actually a pretty good price..If I'm not mistaken, most plcs charge $80 per corner for guard rolling.

Ummm forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the main deciding factor here the offset?

Dude, do you know what offset they are?

Anyway, I'm sure you can get them on with some flaring or rolling... perhaps stretched rubber.

I have a mate who's got 18x10's all around on his GTS-T... with 265s on the rear... with no modification.. of course, this is due to the offset (not sure what it is).

I've got 17x9 (rubber is 235 all around) on my s13, with an offset of +22 they stick out a fair bit but some flaring will soon sort that out.

i got a great deal on a set of WEDS B-VILLENS 18 x 9 +22, 18 x 10 +29 that i can't refuse. Will be going on a R34 GTT. They said i need to roll my guards 10-15mm. Is this amount going to cause my paint to crack? Also will i need spacers to clear the brakes? Any other mods required? I need to know asap and if its worth the effort and pay a deposit before sum1 else snaps them up!

lol

It's funny watching all the girls panick when you mention 9.5" wide

What are the offsets on the wheels, being starcorps I'm guessing there like +30 if not more?

I had 18 x 10 + 18 on the back of my R32 with standard guards and some flaring, was also running 235/40 tires which are, yes stretched but tucked under fine

I also ran 18 x 9.5 + 30 rims on the back of my R32 with just the inner lip of the guard rolled and they sat fine, even though the tires on those were like 245/40

Picture of my old R32 with 18 x 10 + 18 on the back

ok just to clear afew things up

how wide the rim is has nothing to do with brake clearance; brake clearance is due to rim offset and design.

also they will fit just run 225,235 on the front, get them to dial in some negative camber (when you get a wheel alignement) -2degress should be fine, and aslong as your car isn't stupidly low you shouldn't have an issue

clearing the brakes shouldn't be an issue as by looking at the details they are meant for a GTR.

rolling guards may not be needed pending what size tyre you use, how low your car is and how much camber you want to run

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
