post-32230-1160823598.jpgG'day guys, i recently bought an r34 gtt and would like to put the boost up. the only mods i have are exhaust, intercooler, and now a boost controller. as far as i know its ok to have 14psi on stock? do you think thats ok or will i fry things like the turbo? what is a good boost to run on the neo 6??

most people say 10-12psi. it really depends on when the ecu hits rich and retard. you will know when you hit this as it kills the motors power. it retards the timing and richens the fuel right up.

i run 14psi on my 33 with a remapped ecu. goes a lot better than 12psi, and when my turbo blows i have an excuse to get a new one.

so i could run the standard boost on low and maybe 11psi on high you think and that should keep me happy and stop me from spending more money. after buying the car i dont have much of that left! she's only done 35000 k's!

with the exhaust, depending on how well it flows, you may already be running 10psi. i think mine is running at that because of the exhaust.

unless u have an aftermarket turbo, i dont know how this would be possible..

I found 34 gtt's hit r&r a lot easier and harder than r33's. I dynod one stock, and then after a turbo back and front mount, nothing else, and r&r was savage, lost up to 30 kw, only gained about 5kw after it clawed its way out of the hole.

well maybe you coulod get a fuel cut defender, or if in your budget just get a pfc now save your hassles later on, just a thought if not try 9-10psi if it retards then just back the boost down, it will still feel better than standard.

Have a look in the trader section search a user by the name of performance-wise he does group buys on powerfc's with the handcontroll for under 1000 delivered i just bought a unit through him very good to deal with.

They are a complete engine management computer which replaces the standard ecu allowing the car to be very efficiently tuned getting the most out of the engine and its modifications.

thanx man, just checked it out, should i still be buying my electronic boost control or does the power fc cover that as well?

You can use a apexi boost control kit that goes with the powerfc. Or you can just run a seperate boost controll unit. The boost controll kit with the powerfc is a little extra but if you havnt bought a controller yet id go with that and get it at the same time you can buy it with the group buy aswell.

When your turbo blows the smaller ceramic particles that can result can find thier way back into the engine. This is why blowing the stock turbo isn't a good 'plan' even if it's the excuse you want to buy a new bigger one.
