today at the lights my car died, tried to turn it over it cranked but wouldnt start. then had to tow home! if i put the ignition to on the fuel pump doesnt seem the make a noise like usuall it was just silent. recently i had a front mount installed and im thinking it might be cause of that because it was fine before. might have something to do with the air flow meter when they put the filter back on?? so im pretty sure its either a fuel issue or to do with the air flow meter. Please help as im new to this game

ok then your fuel pump isnt getting the 12v signal or your fuel pump has died its more likely it just isnt getting the 12v signal so have you checked all fuses i know in the 33 theres the ones in cabin, ones in the engine bay and ones in the boot beside the battery if not a fuse best bet is grab yourself a multi meter and see if your getting the signal to the fuel pump or see if you can see if the signal is commin out of the ecu if it is and its not getting to the fuel pump you know your wires buggered up somewhere. a pfc is a power fc.

ive checked the fuses and there all good, i recently had my front mount installed so it could be the afm. have you any tips on how to see or check if thats working properly?

well the reason i say that its something to do with the fuel pump is the fact its not starting up when you turn the key to on. even if the afm was unplugged the fuel pump should still start up. the best way with your afm is just have a look that its plugged in properly, since you car is fairly new and with minimal mods then it shouldnt be the afm.

Yeah with AFM unplugged it will start and idle fine but wont rev properly.

Have you changed the fuel pump at any stage?

Have you checked for error codes on the ecu?

well it musnt be the afm cause it wont idle, i havnt changed the fuel pump so that should be fine how do i check for error codes whats the ecu

Maybe it is the fuel pump, when you turn the ignition to 'on' you normally can't hear a stocker. Your one may have been noisy indicating it's on the way out and finally died?

could be, but the cars only done 35,000k's should still be fine?

Maybe it's done 235000 k's and been modified then put back to stock and the in tank wiring is loose.

There's a million posibilities and I'm a bit hesitant about directing you to do this or that when you don't even know what an ECU is. That's not supposed to be an insult, just an honest appraisal of the situation.

Time to take it to a mechanic. Have you got one that works on imports? Whereabouts are you?

My Nissan Vector years ago just died also at a set of traffic light.

Could not start it after that, would not even crank.

It was the ECU.

You said you had crank but no start......

You also said there has been some work on your car recently involving you AFM's.

More than likely your tune has been reset or your plugs and or coils have some problems.

Did the car run well before this happened?
