I havn't used them, but some of the higher end Jaycar stuff is pretty good.

There are several different ways you could wire them, I think your looking at using 2 X 10 inch subs (each with dual coil) arn't you?

I would probably buy 2 mono amps and run 1 sub of each amp (dual coils connected in parallel), but this is just one way of doing it, other people may have other ideas.

One thing you definately want to do is to make sure your amps are rated quite a lot higher than your subs. You must work of the RMS power figures, peak power doesn't mean shit.

I'd also suggest good quality sound deadening (the difference it makes is incredable), the Jaycar stuff is OK, but if you can afford use the Dynamat Xteme (it's the shit).

Hey, here's some info about Dual Voice Coils.

There's usually 2 x 4 ohm coils per sub.

You need to present your amp with the lowest stable ohms load that it can handle to extract the most power out of it.

Most amps are 2ohm stable. Some of the newer mono block and digi ones are 1 ohm and 1/2 an ohm stable.

When you bridge an amp, you halve the resistance. So, a 4 ohm load now becomes 2 ohms.

I you have a 2 channel amp, that is 2 ohm stable, then run your coils in series to make an 8 ohm sub, then run the subs in parallel, to make a 4 ohm load. Run this in a bridged config with you amp. The resistance is halved with a bridge, which is 2 ohms...yeay.

If you have a 4 chanel amp, you can wire up the sub using one voice coil and bridge the amp to make 2 channels. This will be twice as loud. It doesn't matter that you are using only one coil per sub (heresay - please correct if wrong).

I had a 4 channel amp and used 2 channels bridged to run 2 DVC subs, and the other 2 for front stage.

I have a friend with a 1/2 ohm stable 1 mono amp , and he runs his dvc's in parallel, and his subs in parallel. really loud. This is more for competion, as although it's loud, the sound quality isn't great.

Yeah I agree with what your saying.

Only thing is, my personal preference would be don't run less than a 2ohm load (even if the amp is rated for it) If you lower the impediance (ie the load) it will run louder but also loose sound quality (as you said in your mates running a 1/2ohm)

cool. thanx for the input.

for referance there 2 ohm per coil. so if i run them in series ita a 4 ohm sub.

i think il use a sealed enclosure with them. as they specify a 40L enclosure per sub :) ma boot aint that big lol

and to run them i was thinking of either a 150w rms x2 amp. (300rms combines @4 ohms)

and run the vioce coils as above.

or.....

a 100wrms x 4 amp and run each chanel into each coil? so a 2ohm load at all 4 chanels.

the amp is stable at 2ohm. so thats a 800wrms@2 ohm amp :D

(new digital 4 chanel one)

im after really good sound quality. ive heard the higher the ohms in the system the better the sound?
