This hill climb is a joke, the road is now blocked off from the public, so in theory the Noosa Shire shouldn’t be forking out the money to maintain the road as its not used by the public anymore… Yet they do, and our real main roads still suck!

We helped set this event up years ago for the car club, if you knew the amount bribe money used to get it through you’d laugh.

If I can be stuffed I might make my way up I guess.

no, its definitely just for the old boys. anyone not in the HRCC or Noosa Beach Historic Club doesn't get a look in these days. I entered in '03 in my old Datsun, picked up a trophy, got a mention in their club magazine for the car's presentation and the on-the-edge driving style, then next year they rejected my entry saying that they give preference to cars based on wether its historic or classic, a unique models for the event, presentation, and something else I can't remember. Mine was the only Datsun 1200 in '03, and none were there in '04 either, and i got a rap for the car's presentation in their own magazine. But they still allowed about 8 MX5's, which are neither historic or unique, and a bunch of identical MGs and whatever. An Evo 6 even got in. When they call it Noosa HISTORIC Hillclimb, they mean Noosa Historic Racing Car Club Members Hillclimb.

I wouldn't bother going to watch either. 90% of the feild are slow boring old shitboxes, plus a bunch of MX5's - whatever they have to do with historics. the 10% that are worth watching you will probably miss anyway due to falling asleep while the old codgers in their slow POS putter up the hill.

haha your a whinger josh. Its also rediculously hard to get into the event. The old fogeys keep this one closed shop just like the wharfies do at the port.

hahah! I whinge becasue we used the road... For.. *coucgh Cough*.

As hrd-hr30 said, preference is giving to people within those two clubs. But normally not just anyone you have to be a "some body" if you know where I'm coming from.

It's all far too political these days; the Noosa Beach Historic Club is only about who has the most money or who ordered the latest Jag or Merc.

If it wasn’t for a few key people years ago this event wouldn’t be around at all.

I ride my mtb on that road every day the main reason they blocked it of is because of dickheads doing burnouts and dumping shit all over the place, some of the burnouts had ripped 2 inch holes in the road.

I used to ride my mountain bike and motor-x bike there often as well. The dumping, burnouts, which were wrecking the road to some degree and vandalizing I, can understand. But as you’re a bit clueless in the matter I’ll explain in minor detail.

In short the road was closed, due to myself and a group of friends using it for time trail use and for drift practice.

No different to what some of the Noosa Beach Historic Club members where doing in their spare time either. In fact a members Porsche went up the embankment one night while up there....

The Police and shire were informed of who was dumping etc up there, but unfortunately blaming us was more convenient. As were turning a blind eye to a few club members who were doing the same rubbish we were.

My main whinge was about the fact the shire still spends thousands of dollars fixing the road when it’s not a public road anymore, when half the roads in Noosa need fixing ASAP, I’ve spent countless dollars on fixing rims due to the poor roads within the Noosa Shire.

good one idiot

don't know if you can take full credit for it though. Even driving calmly along that road in my diesel Patrol I got alot of death stares from local residents (assumedly) who seemed to consider it as their own private walking trail rather than a public road! More than one refused to move out of the way - they just keep walking in the middle of the road... I reckon they would have been lobbying council to have it closed so they could enjoy walking their dogs in peace and quiet.

To be honest I couldn't have cared what the residents of the 4 homes up there did or thought. Nothing but low earning green peace fools. They needed to be hit by a car to be taught a lesson.

One of them used to string wire up trying to stop us on motor-x bikes, now that’s stupid behaviour, regardless of whether or not what myself or club members were doing on a public road.

Never the less, none of this has any point with my whinge about the shire and the overweight fool of a man they have running it.

funny how they let that man drive a members porsche carrera rs in the event.......

think they'd try harder to not make it so obvious they have "agreements" in place.

:D

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
