I have a GReddy TT installed and I think something is wrong..

I drive 30min to work doing about 100km hr the whole way & the same back home again. My trouble is, on the way there it will count up to 2 mins or so but count itself back down to 20sec by the time I pull up at work. However, on the way home (8hrs later) the timer just keeps counting up, when I get home the timer is usually at about 5 mins. Why does it count so high only on the journey back?

(I don't drive faster or more aggressive on the way home so that's not the issue :O )

Hmmm, that is strange, I got one myself - it went up to 8 mins when I went for an hour long drive (with not much stop/start). If its only 30 mins and you are doing 100 all the way, it depends how often you go slow or are stopped. Usually, when the revs are below 2000 the time count down (or it should count down). So if you are above 2000 for the majority of the way back (never stopping/slowing etc) then it maybe is possible to go to 5 mins.

does it tap into the factory 02 sensor? if so it sounds like its guessing engine load based off the narrow sensor, the apexi one does this. if not, it might be tapping into rpm and speed and guesstimating engine load based on these. if it is, just unplug those wire taps and it shouldnt count up, well based on nothing

I know that the GReddy ones base the time on the RPM. I don't want to unplug it because that doesn't answer my question. It's not a big issue but I find it a bit strange about how it only does it on the journey home.

if your just driving to and from work and not giving it a hard time.. you dont need it.. just a waste of fuel.

The TT seems to think I need it? :)

And don't get me wrong, I don't ever let it run for the 6 mins, I reset it and let it go for 30sec-1min.

How many lights do you come across going to/from work. And how long are you siting at the lights on the way to work, and how long on the way home.

I'm thinking, you get alot more lights closer to your work, that you are left sitting at. Whilst on the way home, you go through the lots of lights first, then down the freeway, take a couple of turns, and whamo, home again. Hence, not idling much on the "end" of the homeward journey.
