Hey so if you havnt already read, i converted my r31 RB20DE redtop automatic to a Rb30E manual.

Took it to the sparkies and got it wired up so it runs now

However, it runs sooooo rough. Blowing heaps of blacky white smoke out the back, and wont let me rev any higher than about 1.7? After that it starts chopping out. This engine and computer were both running mint before the engine conversion.

Any ideas??

** UPDATE: Me and my mate had a look at the spark plugs and they're very black, the cars running very rich

Also, it seems to be at exactly 2000rpm when it does the 'chopping out' thing.

Cheers

Did you use the rb20 or rb30 air flow meter?

Make sure the plug on your AFM is on and secure, give it a wriggle while the car is running. If this does nothing its either a dead AFM or the wrong one.

does it still blow the smoke?

so it went like this, old engine and loom come out, new engine went in and was wired, is there anything i'm missing?? hoses all reconnected? sounds to me like a hose not reconnected and your getting extra air in

yeah all hoses are sweet, however me and my mate unplugged the leads and plugged them back in and its running MUCH better now. not completeley 100% thouGh? also the gearbox (i presume) is making a wierd little knocking noise as i drive. whats this mean?
