Hey guys,

Considering a Sliding high flow RB25 jobbie, and read the modifications sheet required for this. Now, I don't know about you guys, BUT the stock oil/water lines on RB25's are PATHETIC.

AND being that I want to upgrade the turbo, and putting it in has to be less of a headache than it was before (Yes, I was spoilt, I installed a HKS 2535 which came with everything I need)

I want to replace the stock oil/water lines with braided ones, already pre-modified ready for this turbo!

Has anyone purchased new braided oil line for these turbos? If so, where, how much?

Has anyone bought applicable water tube and fittings for these turbo's ? as above?

Cheers,

-Kym.

This is where you find out how it can be easier with Hi Flows based on the original housings and bearing housing . Because it is dimensionally identical to the factory turbos the GCG Hi Flows go bolt with ALL the factory hardware .

I think its a big call to claim that the factory oil and water lines are pathetic because in normal service they virtually last the life of the engine . Its no surprise that they don't fit non standard turbos - they wern't designed to were they ?

Its a different story with "turbine kits" like HKS etc make up because they've worked out the fiddly bits to make all the parts "fall" together . Like Sk says , Japanese work shops charge like brain surgeons so the faster it all fits and works the less time there is to pay for .

Cheers A .

What I mean, is the stock lines are metal, dont bend, and are a pain in the ass to remove/refit turbo's to!

I'd much rather replace them with PROPER larger diameter as required by the highflow's to begin with.

See my point?

Sliding performance turbo's bolt up directly to the standard oil and water lines which as Disco said are more than capable of doing the job.

The modifications are set out to prolong the life of the turbo as they are not ball bearing like the other compies which are twice the cost.

I dont think that spending the extra dollars on the braided lines will give you any increase in reliability over the stock oil and water lines.

They were designed to do the job and handle it rather well under all conditions that i have seen.

You gotta remember he is taking a step backwards... ball bearing to bush.

So it will need more oil.

Purple Pig/Enzed/Pirtek all do them Kym. Shouldnt cost you more than $150-$200.

Just take everything down there so they can match bolt sizes etc etc.

Usually the employee's know whats going on. Im yet to have issues here in Melb with above places.

I agree, i went to enzed and they were able to hook me up with the bandjo fittings etc etc and they were very helpful :D

Strich9,

I know where your coming from. That inside banjo bolt are a pain in the arse. I've removed the turbo on mine a total of 6 times. :( I have got it down pat now though so its not so bad.

For the cost of braided lines..... I'm not sure its worth it. Remove the top oil first then bend it up slightly, then remove the inside banjo and its not too stressfull. :D

If its tight don't forget to grab a trusty open ender and ring spanner that you can slip in to each other to give you some decent leverage.

Ah, holy crap 150-200!

You're right Cubes, for that amount of coin I can f*ck around with it.....

ps Cheers Ash - but I don't have the stockers out my car yet :(

[Michael] Do you have part numbers that can help?

nope sorry, i just went in with the stock lines...

i might still have all the stock rb25 lines and stuff laying around in my backroom, if u want u can borrow them so u can just go in with them before u take ur trubo off!

I have to agree. have taken off 4 turbos and the water oil lines allways cause me dramas.

I would like to have some flexible ones made up as every time I have upgraded from an RB20/vg20 turbo to a RB25 turbo something did not fit.

like larger diameter banjo bolts.

I am going to be getting a new turbo and think I will try to get a second set of lined and mod them before I take a spanner to the car. Nothing worse than getting it all off and finding out you have to get some emergency very costly work done to get it all to fit.

    • I like it when the counter chick leads you out the back into the racks and says "have a grub around in here and see if you can find what you need. I'll be back in a few minutes. Just left me in front of a massive motorised shelving system and 2-3 million fasteners, so I could find a peculiar SS shoulder bolt with cap head. Gotta love country towns.

    • It's about the same time for me from Bunnings, or the Fasteners. My big push away from takeaway food, and gluten in general keeps me away from the Bunnings Snags too! Weather up here, I've been out for two walks today in the beautiful sunshine. Had a few little drizzles, and some wind, that honestly, a tin of beans and I could compete on how harsh she blows Thankfully, being this bit inland, we're not getting anything much really. Will probably pick up a bit more when/if Cyclone Alfie decides to come ashore. A few areas in the GC though, and south into NSW are really getting smashed though! Right now, I'm just annoyed Alfie hasn't hit, as I'm not allowed to crack into the BBQ foods like the bacon and eggs until the Cyclone hits "In case we lose power"...
    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
