Cant Wash Your Car With A Hose...

Havnt u guys got "Car Lovers", there?.. drive aorund bound to be a place where u wash ur car. its got 'gerneys" 1$ buys u 2 mins, etc. or 1 min.

wat i do is..

go to CAr lovers. Blast all dirt off, pull out my Eagle wash. scrub her down with my soft spunge. dont use their brush., blast her off for another 1$. make sure u bring ur sham, with my shammy, swipe her down. take her home clean the windows. give her a polish.

now its ready for show n shine. hit it with wet look if im feeling frisky. now shes blinging like a mutha...

and im from brisbane, where we dont got no water... just alchohol.

Ive worked at a carwash for over 2 years now and I still get all these heroes coming in telling me they will use their buckets here and I cant do nothing about it (well I just turn the hose off on them mid wash and make them leave with a soapy car) 99% of carwashes wont allow you to use a bucket their and will have signs up stating so, everything you need is at the carwash, bringing your own products takes away a lot of business and while ur hogging the bay sponging your car down someone who is actually going to pay to use the proper equipment could be using it.

The foam brush will NOT scratch your car if you rinse it with the hose beforehand (I agree it could scratch if you dont rinse it beforehand as the person before you could of left it clogged up with mud etc), ive used it on my cars for 2 years and havent got a single scratch, I also had my front end resprayed on my R32 and used the brush on it for months, not a single scratch again.

I think most people just hear someone else go "yeah mate i used the carwash and now me cars scratched" and it gets around like that and people talk about it like the have firsthand experience with it when they dont know sh*t.

i dont really agree. these brushes u guys use, are not soft, and if u use them everyday, if u look closely do cause wear dullness. in order to keep ur paint smick u gotta use soft compound (NOT RUBBER) which is what those brushes are made of. and since ur car must be a POS. u didnt notice the tiny scratches.,, ill use my bucket, and my sponge. and ill pay u an extra $5 to do so.

some people care about their cars, and business's revolving around the business of people respecting their own cars. should realize that. and especially with these new water restricitons we gotta pull together!!!.

Not everyone who brings a bucket, is trying ot save a buck. or think that ur brush is poor quality. but they have have a certain proceedure that works for them, to bring out best results for their car. and you morons runnin them places need to realize that!!.

Rubber brushes? what are you on about, their made out of hogs hair, are you sure YOU know what your talking about? And my cars not a POS as I said ive had my whole front end resprayed and not one scratch months later on the freshly sprayed panels.

I dont want this to get into a ridiculous argument anyway I couldnt care less anymore I wont contribute to this thread no more.

I use the self serve car wash at EMP in Brissie..As I only live less than 5 mins from there...I drive there...$1 using the soap spray....spray the whole car down in soap...then...$1 power spray it off...drive home and shammy dry Was feeling lazy today and the car wasn't tht dirty to begin with...

i just go carlovers and when i use the brush i rinse it out extremely well, have so for the past 2 years that its been sprayed orange and used to do it 2 years before that when it was black, if u rinse it out properly u wont scratch it...my paintjob is as frail as anything, so if it were to scratch i would definatley see it on mine...

a full wash at carlovers cost me like 8 bucks including vacuum so its not alot...

Did my car at the local wash place up the road from me and didnt notice any scratches on the paint - i used their brush

The only pain was the wheels were still a bit dirty from where the brush didnt get into

If you wash your car every day, the life span of the paintwork will be dramatically reduced, regardless of what you wash it with.

I just use a GMC pressure washer at home... still allowed to do that in stage 2 restrictions..

Car lovers sucks... The high pressure spray is recycled water.. full of crap and detergents still..

The only way to do a good job is at home with a High Pressure washer and a bucket of soapy water..

Also found a great new product yesterday... Turtle Wax ICE!... its like baby oil for your car.. so smooth and shiny now..

I just went up to the car wash to clean the tree poo off the wagon....

Some time in the last week, they installed a "dogwash" cubicle!

So now you can go and wash your car, and your dog, then put your soggy doggy back into your clean car to give it that lovely "wet mutt" smell.

Some dude wandered into my wash bay while I was minding my own business, so angled the hose to ensure that he copped maximum overspray.

I also had a nice play with the brush while I was there....

that thing is sooooo soft.

You'd have to be trying really hard to scratch the paint with it.

The biggest danger to the paint, is if you start moving too fast and the hose slaps against the car.

Some people seem to be under the impression that it's as stiff as a decking brush or something....

i think the people who started the stories of "don't use the brush, it scratches the paint" are the same ones who started the rumour of "you have to put your pod filter in a box for it to be legal"

I also checked all the signs while i was up there.

All the signs have "Melbourne water" on the bottom of them....

The "NO BUCKETS" signs are painted directly on to the concrete pillars which divide the bays.

Perhaps there's a "Melbourne" in California?

I use the brush, and it cost me $1 less than Sir-D, who took a bucket with him!

My method:

Put your money in $1 at a time so you don't have to rush.

First dollar, Rinse car well from top to bottom, Rinse brush in last 10 seconds before time runs out.

Second dollar, Foam brush, starting at the top, apply as much foam as you can to the entire car.

When the buck runs out and the brush stops foaming, the car will be covered in foam, and you can pay special attention to any areas that you missed while you were rushing around.

Don't put the brush near the wheels until you're finished with body.

The brush isn't stiff enough to clean my wheels, but I give them a run over anyway, just to get the surface dust off.

Third dollar, Rinse.

(Drive off under brakes to cook any excess water off)

DONE!

Dude, 1 dollar rinse is not enough as I like to thoroughly rinse my car. I use the gurney under the wheels where dirt gets caught, also spray my wheels etc. Hence why it cost me 4 bucks.

But yeah Im definately gonna be washing my car there after hours.

PS your comment about the hose slapping the car is spot on... that really dents the car and suddenly the surface is uneven... i used to get tangled in that stupid cord trying to make sure the body of the car never got hit.. f**k that.

those rubber brushes aint so bad, i have used them,. just preferr soft cloth on the sky... as most owners would bit hard to keep ur car smick with these crazy restrictions we got here in QLD hey.

.. Just wondering, why is it that they dont allow buckets at car lovers? just for business resons? or is it something to do with the chemicals used breaking down properly in the Underground recycle treatment tank?..

Its for both the reasons you stated their, to prevent loss of business and the chemicals the carwash supplies you with are all designed to break down properly for recycling and most outside chemicals are not

People who say they are just going to ignore the restrictions need a kick in the throat. Their there for a reason so that we can live. The next step should mass production of water recycling plants around Australia. As for the vote not to build a water recycling plant in Toowoomba or where ever it was, those towns people who voted no also need there heads kicked in, saying no just becuase you dont want to be the first to do it is the most rediculous excuse ever.

The restrictions are there for a reason so abide by them. If it means your car wont be washed every week then who cares no one needs there car washed every weekand a couple of buckets worth of water is plenty to do a good job. The question some people need to ask themselves is do you want a clean car or do you want water?

I totally agree, we need to save water, so i make sure when i wash my car i spray it down at car lovers first, then i use as little water as possible washing my car at home.. but using a Bucket of water as the council states, is the dumbest thing ive ever heard, you waste 20x as much water, as using ur spray gun on ur hose. i must admit i shouldnt even use the hose, BUT what about the government not putting resctrictions on the mines? they use millions of gallons of fresh water each day to wash the minerals?..

they need to work out something with car lovers, to allow bucket users, or Bucket base, with gerneys, etc. so that people can spend the extra few mins washing their car, and using recycled water. beacuse ur always going ot have muddy 4x4's forgein objects lodged in the brush, and people cant afford to spend another 6k repainting their ride.
