Sir D, i know it sucks, but we've been like this in sydney for about a year now.

We have something here in sydney called 'laserwash'. You pop a dollar into the mamchhine, and you get 1 minute worth of hosing.

I just bring my own sponge and bucket. They have a sign on the wall saying not to, but I just do it during the week when it's not busy.

oops, I didn't read all the posts before. lol

Those brushes do scratch. I'm mega anal about my car. It's black, so any swirlies show.

I use a brand new sponge every time I wash. Its only $3 a sponge, so i figure what the hell.

I always just use my buckete and sponge at laser wash. Lol. I go there either during the week, or at night at like 9-10 pm. There's like no one using it at that time.

I'll be taking mine to the local BP Wash stop.

They have a tap there so I'll fill up my bucket use my wash mit then spend $2 to spray off the suds.

I refuse to use the brushes that have suds come out the end as it doesn't wash the car properly and does scratch the car. Everything shows on a black car.

Wow... can you say ripped off..

we have the same thing here.. although its called car lovers.. local one is $1 for 2mins 30secs

I don't go to car lovers with my line.. That brush scratches the shit outta your paint.. doesnt matter how much you rinse it before use

so a fair few people agree. and if anyone wants pics, why not go use it, then get ur car in the sun, and concentrate hard on the shine, look deep in ur paint, and have a look at the tiny scratches.

the brush can definently have forgien objects in it, even if u spray it out, u would have to spend $1 to clean the brush before use. u would be amazed at what scratches paint, My VK 308 is black, and with black, its 10 fold.

thats why i got my new car in silver

if u have some dust on ur car, and people draw in the dust.. if u look closely just that dust, has just scratched your car!. dont believe me go look?. so imagine foreign objects on a rubber brush. could definently do that.

car lovers should make a bucket wash bay, so u can use their guns and or soap, but not use their brush. .. or just be more leinient, its only us car BUffs, who actually would go that extra mile on their cars anyhow, cant say it would cost them alot of business right?

Man, I scream at my girlfriend EVERY time she goes to write on my paint work in the dirt!

I know the car needs a clean, but FFS woman! DON'T DRAW IN MY DIRT! That and people putting hand prints on the windows!

Those shite car wash brushes have caused swirl marks on 2 of my previous cars, 1 being dark grey and other being dark green, where they really show up. Theres a reason any car detailer wont use those type of brushes when detailing a car, but only a sponge.

I work for section of Melwater now and everyone will be using 1 type of recycled water in the future. There are secondary treatment plants being built where the water coming out of those stations will be piped into new housing estates in purple pipework along side regular water supply. The recycled water can be used for your toilet, garden, washing your car etc but not for drinking water.

law to all you suckers....especially silver bucket, thankyou for your your lovely hinter, but i never like to sare so deeply into the paint of a car, its you know not something i do unless i seem to be passed out or well if i happened to be that obsessive about the paint job on my car....lol

okok i mean no harm, just wanted a laugh :)

But on the contrary i DO agree with your initial point, the water restrictions are so f**kign annoying with black painted cars etc, how else are we going to do a quik rinse or fix for our car before we go out?....well up you stupid drought!

and hello hunny aka IanB

yes it is annoying, and now i just found out, no bucket washes at home allowed either anymore.. so strickly car lovers for me now :P just Gerney for 2 mins and shamos off. did it today actually aint so bad.

btw wats laser wash?..anyone?

Laser wash is using high pressure water jets from all around your car to wash it.

I used 1 a few time some time ago but always found a few areas (esp rims) that aint done properly

I too have tried a few different lazer washes. All miss spots.

There's two different bits inthe laserwash. there is the diy part - identical to carlovers. I haven't seen a carlovers here in sydney.

Laserwash is more expensive. you only get 1 minute for 1 $.

There is also the auto washer in there. it's crap.
