I am seriously considering the purchase of an R33 GTST 1995 with 67000km's on the clock. The car seems extremly clean but as this will be my first Skyline purchase I am concerned as to what could or should be replaced or receive mantenance in the next 30,000km's or so. Pricing would also be of great help.

Your advice most appreciated.

well....lots of alternative cars offered :P. You can buy mine too if you like.

I'd be very suspicious of the actual klm of a 1995 car that only shows 70,000km on the odometer. Only 10,000 per year??? I don't believe in fairies or 7 year old cars with such low klm.

So, assuming the klm are closer to 100,000, you'll need to budget for timing belt change (and possibly water pump, do a search).

Aside from that, I've had my car for 2years / 30,000 klm, and its only needed regular oil changes, new brake pads, and 1 new clutch. These cars are very reliable for a sports car.

I reckon 67000 on a 95 car is not impossible, i've seen cars which are 95 and 94 models that have got 40000 or there about and still have the new car smell. but i guess it just how the previous owner treated the car.

You could have a car that has done 50000kms and is new or you can the same car that is a mess

thanks for the feedback guys.

My main concern would be the clutch etc. what sort of money do these cost to replace? on that note what should I expect to pay for a standard service (oil/filter etc.)

are these cars hard to sell with high km's...ie 100 plus.

also, is it possible to insure 19inch rims on the gtst?

any thoughts on replacement NGK titanium plugs?

skyline33- please feel free to email me details of your vehicle.

thanks again,

PB.

PigB8 - you will find that at around 80k + the std clutches would be getting pretty tired.

When I imported my car I changed the timing belt and gave it a full service (around $200 for timing belt - 100 in labour and 100 for the belt). I also changed the clutch to a daiken exedy organic hd ($550 + labour). If the car is std, you could just use a std daikin organic ($350).

For a standard service you are looking at about $100 in parts + labour, although its pretty easy to do yourself.
