Honestly, i can't see why you all are so interested in the new commodore, falcon, etc etc, this is a skyline forum if you want to talk about a holden/ford go to one of their forums.simple. don't like them fine stop talking about them. Its like you haven't got anything better to do or say, so what its not a skyline, and for the record Skylines aren't the best car made either. there are plenty of inherent faults in skylines but no-one ever talks about them do they. On a hot day my skyline runs shit, won't idle, cause of this so called heat soak, yet i bet a commodore will sit there and idle all day in 40-50 degree heat. but this problem with heat soak is affecting alot of people if you look through the performance threads, yet there is nothing i can do but live with it.

Take it easy... its a free coutry and we can express our love and/or distain for anything we choose

If you dont like it... move on

i'm cool ctjet, just don't understand if you hate it then why keep going on about it. I'll use your words here, if you don't like it...move on.

recalls are part n parcel of the auto industry, its a big deal to get a car right.. N the 1 Billion dollar spend has been distributed in alot of new manufacturing processes, that gives holden some sort of foundation to compete with other markets as well. So dont go thinking they spent a billion just developing the VE. All fun n games.

i remember reading about the VE series, and Tom Walkinshaw was saying that its a top of the line sports car and can easily compare to a supercar, and he said it is pretty much a supercar in every aspect... In my aspect they are chunks of sh!t. Whoever says fords arnt reliable are wrong, how many AU and EL taxi's have done over 1million k's and never not once have they sh!t themselves when i and mates at work have worked on them. Original engines and everything still running strong (shocking compression though)

Also my uncle has a vy s2 r8, one burnout and the box sh!t itself, 7grand damage. His son has a xr6 turbo, 282kw at the wheels. One diff and 2 gearboxes.

The new ba's arnt the best, XR8 and GT's coping engine replacements, IRS diffs sh!tting themselves, Gearboxes blowing, Clutches frying. But get a straight gas BA xt auto.. Reliability is the word id use.

Also, for the holden lovers.. Thrash a holden as much as my r33 has been thrashed and we will c how many pieces u get ur engine and car back in... :O

yeh i think this subject is going abit far lets just leave it at that i mean the only good ford and holden are doing for this country is the amount of jobs they offer otherwise i think we'd be much betta of getting our cars from japan america or europ (i'd prefer japan) but theres those who like thier minis n those who like the big v8s..

I drive past a dealership everyday as I go for lunch... I've looked at these cars plenty (stopped off and took a look, sales guy gave me the usual talk).

I don't like the look of them, they do appear to drive well (I drive past people as they are test driving them). Couple roundabouts, a set of lights etc... a straight. People drive soft, some fang it around. Slower then the previous models with the V6 as it's the same engine, but heavier body.

The look like that tried to make it look widebody... all puffed up and that. Very weird looking car. Nice for what it is though ;)

    • Hows your intake piping? Are you still running stock? Having in the stock AFM position would mean, if the BOV was shut/venting out, it'd create the almost stalling kind of effect right // "the rich pulse behaviour" due to MAF thinking air is flowing ? But this would be better than having the bov in the stock position + MAF on/just before cross over piping right?
    • Essentially, yes. Although I wouldn't put the AFM on the crossover pipe. I'd want to put it into what amounts to the correct size tube, which is more easily done in the intercooler pipework. I bought a mount tube for card stile AFM that replaces the stock AFM - although being a cheap AliExpress knockoff, it had not flange and I had to make and weld my own. But it is the same length and diameter as the stock RB AFM, goes on my airbox, etc etc. I don't have a sick enough rig to warrant anything different, and the swap will take 5 minutes (when I finally get around to it and the injectors & the dyno tune).
    • So to summarise, the best thing to do is to move recirc to between turbo and IC, and maf on the crossover pipe. Meaning I'd need a recirc flange, drill a hole in the piping on turbo outlet area. And drill hole on crossover to fit/weld maf sensor? Either that or put the MAF on the turbo inlet right?  Is an aftermarket recirc/blowoff valve recommended? Do currently have family in Japan so could probably bring something back with maybe a cheeky lil SuperAutobacs run?
    • Yep, so far most have said that it looks like corrosion on the wall from piston not moving. Which then has probably damaged the oil rings and caused those vertical marks. The longest the engine was still after the rebuild, was the winter of 2018 - 2019, plus the boat trip to Japan. When I shipped the car, it had normal gas in the tank but before that winter pause, it had E85 in tank.  In any case, even if either one of those was the cause, it happened close to 6 years ago and the car has been driven something like 30 000kms after the fact. Again, apart from the plugs and the dip stick, there is nothing in the way the car runs that would indicate what has been going on in the engine. I am going to consult a shop and ask their opinion, what would be the best approach. I do have some access to a garage I could use to diagnose further myself, but time is very restrictive. Might end up buying another engine that could be used while this one is being remedied. Without pulling the head, it will be impossible to find out if it needs another bore, but here's to hoping a hone would suffice.  Goddamnit, I would really have preferred this not happening.
    • Boot is going to be replaced eventually. I just wire brushed what I could and rust converted. Then painted in rust kill primer. the spoiler also got repainted and plugs replaced on the ends. The under side of the bonnet is going to be black also, currently white. But red on the top side, same colour code as the silo to begin.
